I remember having to fill to go through those security clearances again at TBS and ensure everything was correct so you could get a clearance. So unless things have changed, you won't get your security clearance until some point during TBS (not that you'll need it before then, anyways).

FYI, it's just the UH-1Y Huey, not Super Huey. Yes, there is plenty that is "super" about it, but let's be honest, the Huey has been super since day 1 and never needed the moniker. :D

I'm pretty sure you have to use the Oceanside gate (the one closest to Mainside) to get up to Fallbrook and Temecula. A buddy of mine lived in Fallbrook while he was in -303 and that's the gate he always used.

I agree. So far (through 303 and several months in the fleet), I've seen nothing that supports those rumors you hear in flight school about skid pilots eating their young and whatnot. Granted, you need a thick skin around here, but that's true for the Marine Corps in general.

Even if you're going to New River, I'd recommend places like Carlsbad, Encinitas, and San Marcos...basically anywhere other than Oceanside. Your best bet would be to get with a guy who is staying West Coast so you don't have to worry about breaking a lease. I did that and lived in Encinitas...

At Max Gross Weight in a high, hot, and heavy environment (Iraq), yes. Otherwise, it's not much of a problem to take off. Severely underpowered, but I think that makes you a better pilot in the long run.
