    Changing Primary locations

The way that is was stated in my class is that if you can find someone who wants to switch with you within your class, than you might be able to switch if the command allows you. There are only so many spots available for each primary location per class, aspecially with Vance and Moody. Also...

    NFO / Question

Yes, you can transfer from NFO to pilot. Right now they are allowing nfos that did well enough in api(top in class) and are physically qualified to transfer after api, but I don't know how long this will last (it comes and goes). Also, after serving 18 mos as an NFO in a quadron, you can apply...

    T-6 Texan

At the forum at the museum a few weeks ago it was stated that the NFOs in Pcola would be getting the remaining Texans already ordered and that the new order being placed would go to the pilot trawings. They said they would be here by the end of the calendar year and that we would be training in...

Forget about the whole BI score thing!

I worked in the area where they grade them and the BI is no longer a factor due to people telling other people what to put on the BI portion of the test. FYI - this only applies to the Navy, the Marine Corps still uses the BI.

    Flight physical

I haven't gotten that far yet. But when I did it at OCS, you float for several minutes, but you can come up for air about every 15-30 seconds (basically to breathe). When you do that you can boost yourself back to the surface. They will work with you if you need the help. Hope that helps.

    Flight physical

There are no spinal taps for a drug test. Drug testing is done via urinalysis (you pee in a cup). There is nothing to worry about.

    Push ups Question

Marko - On the OCS webpage there is a place to email questions. I would email the IN-PRT question to them, it is an officer at OCS who answers them and will give you the correct information. As for the shape you should be in going to OCS: Strive to be above the mins, but don't knock those who...

    Female DI

The female drill instructor can be very intimidating. I watched her work with a couple of classes and she can be just as scary as the others. She is learning just like the other new drill instructors how to work with OCs. I believe she gets her first class next month. If any of you get her...

Is the March 18 class still alive?

They are in their 7th week. I saw a few of them last week and they seem to be doing good.

    Pay

Jonathan, Yes you get paid at OCS. You will get E-5 pay, about 1592 per month. although you probably won't get your first paycheck until your 3rd or 4th week. Once you get commissioned you will recieve O-1 pay. You are in training even though you are not in API yet. Don't worry you will be...

    Back LOG to start API

I am graduating friday and have been told that the wait for API is 6-8 weeks. Liasons from my second and third week have classed up. There is no more OHARP (home office recruiting), except in extreme cases (ie. your wife is having a baby). While waiting you muster every morning and might get...

Here we go again! OCS on April 6th anyone?

Dave, Sorry to see you didn't make it into 20-02. Looked for you on the roster and was wondering what happened. I ended up on Indoc staff, which is a lot of work, but very gratifying. Hope you don't get bumped again. 16-02 is an awesome class and will be a good indoc staff. Darren, 20-02...

OCS SNA slots closed until October???

On that same note. The word from candidates down here that have to redesignate for some reason or another have been told by higher ups here (people who find you a designator) that _everything_ is full. The only thing that might be open is NFO, not sure about this. Christine Candio Rocks...

OCS in PRT? Don't let em fool ya!

Update on Female out-PFA scores (for those of you out there): Situps: 87 Pushups: 37 Run: 13:15 Got the Out-PFA this week, if it isn't too cold. Just want to get it over with. Christine

    Knee Brace

Gator, It shouldn't be a problem, but your recruiter should be able to call and find out. I recently have had to start wearing one while here at OCS. People wear them, but you have to have permission to do so. If your doctors says you should then when you get here, you will have to see a...

    Blankets for OCS

Chris, Technically you aren't supposed to have one, but it is nice to have one. Do not bring it with you when you show up. To be safe, I would bring a charcoal gray one that is wool or looks like wool. stash it in your car or pick one up on your first liberty. most of the people in my class...

    Memorization Inconsistency

Mike, Here are the correct versions: #5 utmost #3 enforce #6 that, there is no 'all' #10 no 'and colors' (only once in that sentence) #11 for Hope that helps, and believe me you need to know it verbatim. (a big plus if you have it down before you get here) OC Felice

    OCS- March 9th, 2002

Dave, I failed the in-PFA by 3 seconds on my run. If for some reason you don't pass it, you have the chance to take it with the next incoming class and join with them. Until then, you PT a lot (2-3 times a day). I came in at the mins, but I also slacked off on PT the two weeks before I came...

    Current OCS Candidates

Well, 14-02 just started 8th week. over half way done. Can't wait. Congrats to Ensign Shutter, he was living in our old spaces while a candio. It is nice seeing people graduate. The eye test at NOMI is the same as the one I took at MEPS, the only thing is I passed it here and failed it at...

    Out PRT for OCS

As for the group runs. You will start off at a slower pace so the slow people (ie. me) don't fall out. They will pick up as you go along in training. As for the situps, you will improve whether you want to or not, so I wouldn't worry too much about it except to come in with more than the...

    OCS- March 9th, 2002

As for sleep at OCS, it is how much you want to get. They are adamant about sleeping btwn the hrs of taps and revielle. I get about 6 hrs every night, unless I have Watch. (gotta get up early to be ready for PT) Can't tell you much about the first week, it varies with every class. You'll...

    Current OCS Chain of Command

Number 4 (BOIC) depends on your class. I would hold off learning that one until you get there. Christine

    Wash Out Rate At OCS

I am currently here at OCS and it is hard to get atrited. The main reason I have seen so far for DORs is Not Physically Qualified for designator. And that usually happens in the the first week. OC Felice

    NFO Info

Vision requirements for NFO are 20/200. As for NFOs going to Pilot, my rec said that 10% a year (but take it with a grain of salt). You could also consider PRK to correct your vision and then see if you can get a waiver to become a pilot. Hope that helps. OC Christine

    PRK dilemma

Jim, I just recently made the decision not to get it done for other reasons. But as it was explained to me that once you get the PRK done you have to wait 3 months afterwards before applying because they need followup documents. I would recommend talking to an officer recruiter and finding...

    Nov or Dec OCS?

Thanks for this info, but I am not in a big rush. Not heading out until the morning of the 3rd. Have a nice drive. See ya there.

    OCS?

Got a question here? How many females (on average) are in an OCS class? I am not expecting more than a few, but would like to get an idea. Christine

    Nov or Dec OCS?

As far as I know the Nov 3rd OCS class is a go. I am supposed to pick up my orders this week. There are three people headed out from houston for that class. Just preparing things here to head out. Christine
