    Texan or T-34?

Well that's good news then.. and to address your questions I have been and still am studying API knowledge as well. I'm working my way through the Aero and Weather pubs, and simultaneously studying the systems workbook for the T-34, as well as the EPs from the NAVMAC that are related to the...

    Texan or T-34?

I recently finished TBS and am currently enrolled in IFS. I was able to get all of the API and Primary pubs (for the T-34) a while back and have been studying as much as possible. My questions is this-lately I have been hearing rumors that by time I start primary I will likely be flying the...

    The CRF!!!!

Oh yeah, gotta love the AC unit across the hall that exploded and flooded out my room. The MIKE Company LD's saved the day though. In an attempt to save clothes I had folded on the floor (which were already completely drenched in black water), they picked up the pile and threw it on top of my...

    question

I understand what you all are staying, but there are other factors leading me to believe that maybe i shouldnt be here...regardless, have you heard of guys getting their commission dropped?

    question

I have been moved to mike co. because of an injury, and quite frankly it sucks having to wait until the next class picks up, and thats not even guaranteed because i might not be healed...so, my question is, do i have any options or no. Is there any way that i can drop my commission and get out...

    Air Contract

would i still have signed it, i dont know.....most likely yes, but regardless, it would have been valuable information to know before-hand...It's my fault that I did not read it, but my OSO told me so I didn't think to question it...I am in the same boat as Wedge with my girl, she is not pleased...

glad that my OSO lied to me about that.....Integrity, apparently the Corps doesn't practice what they preach

    Air Contract

I am an air contract in Marine Corps TBS now, and it seems that no one here is sure of when the 6 (helos) and 8 (fixed wing) contracts start. I was told that that 6 or 8 years starts at OCS and then the time frame is determined once you go into your flight pipeline. Someone recently told me...

    truth to this?

Some 2nd LT friends and I were joking around about ways that people try to get out of the Marine Corps, and we got curious. We heard that while at TBS, if you fail everything you do for a while, they will take your bars away and send you packing...Is this true? Our platoon commander at OCS is...

    Things to know before OCS

very true, but putting out during PT is also where your peers evaluate you a lot. At least my peer eval comments always revolved around motivating people during PT, and I was ranked 3rd and 4th throughout.

    At OCS on Liberty

10 weeks of OCS over the summer, now im back in quantico for TBS...So, is earning a 1st class swim qual hard? (im a strong swimmer). Also, does all time spent in the field really suck, or is it better than being in the field at OCS?
  12. O

    Things to know before OCS

billets are the least of your worries, billets dont mean as much as people are trying to make you think...Its all about your leadership grades such as LRC 1-2 and SULE 1-2. If you do poorly on those and do poorly in your billet positions, then they mean something....Otherwise, dont even start...

    Female candidates for OCC-189/PLC-COMB

do sit ups/crunches every other day, not everyday. Also, focus on sit ups with your feet under a bar, as these are more difficult than having someone sit on your feet. Do these, then when you do your PFT sit ups they will seem much easier.

    Legs, shins, and more legs...

motiv8r...no disrespect, but you are incorrect.. For example, in a weighless environment such as space, an astronaut will lose 1% of total bone density per month spent in space. This is permanent and cannot be replaced or fixed in any way, even if a ton of calcium is taken. They have done a...

    Should I throw the dice?

I dont believe that you can got for both air and ground, they are different routes and require different things, such as physical, air test, ect.... when you apply. And now, being a ground guy, I dont think it is easy to switch over to air during TBS, because of the fact that they left a...

Stats For Ocs Class 189!!!!! Anyone?

birdman, im curious how you know you were accepted to OCC 189 6 months ago. The board just met last week, and the general has yet to sign off on it (so people havent been notified yet). but yeah the competition is tough, im praying that I was selected.

Getting into OCS for flight or other?

this is what the people here are trying to tell you...I was down at cherry point the weekend before thanksgiving with a handful of air contract guys (our OSOs took us), and the commanding general down there (2 star general, forget his name) told us this..."you are joining the marine corps, the...

Stats For Ocs Class 189!!!!! Anyone?

I was recently notified by my OSO that the june 5th board will be meeting the firts week of april, instead of may. I know the aviation slots are very limited for 189, but im keeping my fingers crossed that I get selected. 20:100:20.49.....283 pft. 3.2 gpa from penn state science/medical B.S.

    OCC Flight Contract

Stevew There is a lot more that goes into it besides grades and PFT. Did you have a lot of extra-curriculars, accomplishments that show leadership ect...?? It all depends, because ground guys tend to need higher PFT scores than air guys, and a guy from my OSO office had a fairly average PFT...

Stats For Ocs Class 189!!!!! Anyone?

3 air slots? i dont think that is correct. My OSO was told that they are taking 100 occ guys for 189 class, and either 25 or 30% of those will be air slots. Still not that many, but fat better than 3. Let me know what you have heard

    cherry point

Hey guys/gals, I just got back from a weekend at Cherry Point. My OSO here (penn state) and a Pitt OSO took a handful of us air contract guys down for the weekend. Friday we got to use the prowler sim. and saturday we went out into the flight lines. We got to witness a squadron of harriers...

    OCS and g/f's

not to sound like a sally, but how did you guys best deal with having a g/f while at OCS? I'm assuming that you weren't able to see them. Did you have time to write letters, and are there opportunities to get online while at OCS? (im doubting it). Just trying to figure out how best to keep...

    Acceptance rate into OCS

Well if isn't just a set number. You are somewhat in control of your own destiny. If you have a good GPA in college, and have a solid PFT score, then you better your chances significantly. I am going into the 189 class as well, and my OSO told me if I run a PFT score (he gave me a set number...

    June 05 OCC

Im going on june 5th as an air guy.. I wouldnt worry about there not being any openings. If there was a potential problem that could be forseen at this time, my guys here in the office would surely inform me. From what they continuously tell me, I am good to go for june 5th.
