the C-9 is gradually being replaced with the C-40. Most squadron have 4 planes, I believe. There isn't really a pipeline per se. You have to be a reservist and you train at flight safety for a month. Other planes that the Navy has are C-12's, C-130's etc. The reason you don't hear about them...

Well, being enlisted may be fun, but it's certainly not the way to go if your goal is to be a pilot. While it can be done, obviously, it's certainly the long route.

On the weekends it's in the hangar. Find a maintenance guy, and he'll let you know which one they're using. During the week, you go to aircraft issue and they'll let you know which bird it is. Usually it's on A-5. Good luck.
