    Example of a Recommendation...

Hi, I've searched long and hard on the forum for an example of an airline recommendation, but to no avail. Does anyone have an example of what a good recommendation should look like, or at least what specific details it should include? Thanks in advance for any response

    Flying commercially in Europe

I'm getting out of the Navy soon and am interested in flying commercially in Europe. Any insight into how to go about converting my ratings etc? British Airways/Virgin Atlantic the way to go? I have approximately 1500 TT, 500 ME PIC. Any insight into European aviation would be greatly...

    C-9 Training and amount?

the C-9 is gradually being replaced with the C-40. Most squadron have 4 planes, I believe. There isn't really a pipeline per se. You have to be a reservist and you train at flight safety for a month. Other planes that the Navy has are C-12's, C-130's etc. The reason you don't hear about them...

Need Advice on renting your home out...

Need Advice on renting your home out...

Hey everyone, I want to buy a house real bad (for the investment opportunity), but I might have to up and leave a year after moving. How easy is it to just hand your home over to a property manager (to rent it out) and let them deal with it? How many upfront expenses go into that, and what...

Hi, I'm finally hitting the fleet and I wanted to write a letter to my new CO. Got a few questions for you all... 1. I use standard navy format, yes? 2. Do I mention things about myself, or is it sufficient to tell him when I'm coming and that I'm happy to be there etc. etc.? 3...

    Purging SNA’s

Much of that email seemed accurate enough, but it was a little overly cynical. The average number of Navy wingers are going to the fleet, as normal. Sure, they may not be getting much flight time, but they're going there. And certainly no one has been "sentenced" to the reserves. I think that is...

Jac01, As a Fordham Alumni I'll help you out on this one. If you don't want to be moving around a lot, and you don't mind Oklahoma, then E-6's are a good idea. And of course, if you like going on short detachments. I have heard lots of bad things, though. Read other links and they'll...

Europe - Thy name is Cowardice

Well, I appreciate your forthright and honest reply, but we'll just have to agree to disagree on this one. You've outlined the resolution masterfully, but the ONLY "semi-legitimate" justification we could ever have had for invading another country was WMD. Legitimacy aside, you can connect many...

Europe - Thy name is Cowardice

HueyCobra, I couldn't disagree with you more. Yes, terrorism has been around for a long time (much longer than 60 years), and, yes, it has taken this country until September 11 to FULLY realize its seriousness. After the September 11 attacks, we did not sit around with our thumbs up our a$$es...

Europe - Thy name is Cowardice

While appeasement may have been the name of the game in Europe for decades now, that does not mean that Saddam Hussein was being appeased during the build-up to the Iraqi invasion. What the heck is an OMBUDSMAN?

Ombudsman, as it is mentioned above, is of Swedish etymology, but it is used in Norway, Denmark, and Iceland too. I know, because I lived in Scandinavia for a while. It is basically a middle man between the people and the government. Or in our case, the sailors and the higher ups. "Bud" means...

Zab is absolutely right. No one mentioned anything to anyone about the bottom 25% being chosen. And I also resent the implication that the bottom 25% are slackers. Sending newly winged aviators to reserve squadrons...

Ok, I see your point. One, you won't be doing tactical flying, and two, flying in the military is more fun regardless of whether it's tactical or not. But my point is, I might not even have eight years of flying to look forward to in the first place. With so few P-3 hours, making AC would be...

Sending newly winged aviators to reserve squadrons...

What's IRAD? Anyway, it's definitely not just a rumor. It has been offered to '03 Navy graduates in both primary and VT-31. You do 2 years AD at a reserve squadron, then 6 years as a select reservist, or whatever they're called. It seems like a good deal to me, considering the fact that there...

Sending newly winged aviators to reserve squadrons...

Hey, what does everyone think about sending newly winged guys to reserve squadrons? Without any PIC time during those first two years, no airline will be willing to pick you up. And after the first two years, you may only be flying once a month.

Ok, I'm here, it's hot as hell, have a question about VT-31/T-44A Static

On the weekends it's in the hangar. Find a maintenance guy, and he'll let you know which one they're using. During the week, you go to aircraft issue and they'll let you know which bird it is. Usually it's on A-5. Good luck.
