NEWS This is US Navy... We Fly?

Do you know how expensive it would be to 'escalate' things with China? You like your iPhone, iPod, MacBook, tablet, or anything else you currently own? We won't escalate shit with China anytime soon.

    Drinking and driving.

Concur. During flight school SOP was for Nittany (during his retread days), myself, and several other AW members to start at the O Club at about 6pm. Shut down the club around 10, then cab it to Palafox. For us this was a weekly ritual for about 8 weeks straight. Enjoy that lifestyle while...

A day in the life of a pilot?

Why do you think I am on my way to HSC? That said, if you're flying for 10-12 hours, its going to be a long day regardless of how much additional bullshit we pile on to make ourselves feel better. Could we save some time by NOT briefing every NATOPS EP for the back end, or having the pilots...

A day in the life of a pilot?

Thats all we VP guys need to hear. We're too scared and cautious to ACTUALLY be aggressive, but if we feel like our lives suck hard enough, and we spent long enough in preflight, we can take solace in thinking that we bring something to the fight.

A day in the life of a pilot?

If you're in P-3/P-8 and you have a flight its a full 16 hour work day at least. Unless its an easy home cycle flight, but even then a short day is probably about 10 hours.

First flight of the P-8A Poseidon and all things related to transition

P-8 has plenty of extra room for ZFW. Max GW requires some trade offs (fuel for bouys, etc.) AtA refuel is for one purpose only. I don't see it extending on station times during ASW or extending on station times all that much period. MPRA may change its collective mind about that, but...

Just push to stay in Jax. Even if you get selected for P-3s, if you stay in Jax you'll be P-8 by the end of your first sea tour. That said P-3s in Jax is going to be hard to get being that there aren't many left.

    Tattoos of Wings

I'm speaking anecdotally, don't have scientifically gathered statistics. I'm also counting tattoos period, not just ones that are visible in uniform. And I said URL Os, which includes priors. Either way, the number isn't as much the issue as is the fact that tattooing in all socioeconomic...

We have 5 or 6 URL Os in my squadron that have tattoos visible in short sleeve uniforms. Besides having visible tattoos wasn't really the topic of conversation... it was tattoos, and tattoos on officers in general.

    Tattoos of Wings

Many folks arent, but at the shop I worked at we had people who thought long and hard about what they were doing. Tattooing isn't all "MOM" hearts and barbwire. Our shop wouldn't even consider tattooing tribal arm bands or barbed wire.

    Tattoos of Wings

Stop being a tool. First its fucking 2014, the number of places that can afford to discriminate against tattoos is plummeting. Tattoo culture has exploded in the US over the past 20 years. Australia, Germany, Denmark, Poland, and the Czech Republic have all seen the same thing. England is at...

Precision Approach Minimums (ILS vs PAR)

Those are CAT II and III ILS. Your aircraft has to be certified for CAT II in order to use the CAT II mins, or the CAT III in 0/0 situations. Maybe I'm not understanding your question though. I don't think any Navy a/c are certified past CAT I.

    P-3/P-8s officially out of Hawaii?

When the Gold Wings are going on your chest, then do what you want. Which would be my advice to the OP. Assuming you're a SNA wife, if you get pissed about who the Winger chooses you should consider getting over yourself. There are already way too many Navy wives in this world who...

    F-35??

Short story is that an unanticipated oscillation has been observed that may be linked to the modifications done to the airframe (we have an 800 body with 900 wings and a weapons bay)...
