Don't let the HT guys dissuade you from HSM. It's not bad at all. The Romeo is extremely capable, and I've enjoyed my time in the FRS.

Finishing the HSM Jax RAG on 15 July. Checked in at the end of last September. Keep in mind we had leave over Christmas/New Year's, and we only had one operating sim for the first few months. Now they've got us at the Mayport sim, and driving to NAS Jax to use their sim as well. So all in...

You can get by with the brown Bates Lights (lites?) they sell at the NEX. You don't HAVE to wear shirt stays, but make sure it's not all hanging out looking shitty. When I wear khakis I still wear my stays...but I rarely wear khakis.

All I know about Vance is, when studs came back for Helo Advanced in Whiting, there was a marked amount of deprogramming that had to take place early-on. Kids had to learn the Navy way, and were given a few opportunities (sitting in on CPT's) to adjust before moving on in the syllabus.
