I took the ASTB today, got me a 62 8/7/7.....I studied quite a bit for it, and even though I am an electrical engineer, I found the math quite challenging, mostly because of the time constraint, I bought two of the ASTB guides, but to be quite honest, the level of complexity was just higher than expected....not hard, but tricky with the time constraint, I did not finish this section, especially since problems kept getting harder, which given the adaptative nature of the test is supposed to be a good thing. if you are doing math problems in a guide, make sure to do them right yes, but do them as quickly as you can since you will get harder stuff in the actual test. Mechanical Comprehension, I got your typical pulley questions, some engine component ones I was not expecting, and a good 3 or 4 Spring forces ones that I was not expecting either. Compass trick worked great for the UAV portion. for the joystick part, focus on one thing at the time, so when they are throwing you all the same time, LISTEN FIRST, follow the 2D target second, and unless you have past experience with this, I would just forget about the vertical target altogether, if it is your first time as it was for me, expect to get a lot better as you go, so don't panic if you suck in the practice trial with the joystick. for the ANIT section, study all the different kinds of planes, what they do, their nicknames, when were they used and what not.. Also, study ALL the different names that the parts of ships can have. Know that the Math portion weighs a lot for your AQR and FOFAR score for all the NFO applicants here, and that ANIT and PBM weigh a lot for SNA applicants....hopefully any ASTB takers find this helpful, feel free to ask questions if you want,
