    MV-22 Iraq Update

The flight hours per person (~70) for three months seems kind of low to me since it's in Iraq. Is that normal for deployed ops? I figured it'd be more. I understand that it's probably higher for some individuals, as I wouldn't imagine the CO/XO flies as much as a new FRP.

    XBOX360 or PS3

Probably the best advice of the whole thread. All the stuff I listed previously is stuff that I took into account when I bought my PS3. To the OP, gimme a holler and come on by, we can rock out on Guitar Hero. I've finished the syllabus so all I'm doing now is working on my Jeep and playing...

    $522 for a vacuum cleaner

I don't know if you can just call them up. Every few months or so since we've lived here a salesman will come by, give us a free bottle of laundry detergent and ask us if they can do a demo in the living room. I say sure, let them get started, and just turn on the PS3 and play video games the...

    XBOX360 or PS3

When the difference is only $50-$60 between the two, I don't really consider it that much of a cost savings. Just me. I never said they were the best selling game system, but they were smart to package the two different technologies together. Quite a few people I know who own a PS3 bought it...

    XBOX360 or PS3

Sony has stated they will replace a controller if the battery dies. That's interesting, as most standalone HD-DVD and Blu-ray players that I've seen are almost identical in price. The only real pricing difference I've seen is in the cost of movies, with HD-DVD having the edge by a few...

Looking for gouge? Ask your Stupid Questions about Naval Aviation here (Part 1)

Yeah, hovering upside down is the extreme example, but with a conventionally rigged model helo (no negative pitch) you can still do aerobatics. It at least proves the aerodynamic principles of being able to the different maneuvers.

Looking for gouge? Ask your Stupid Questions about Naval Aviation here (Part 1)

Yeah, NATOPS limits aeorbatics in any helo. However, purely aerodynamically speaking, pretty much any helo is capable of aerobatics to some degree. Like you said, negative g's would cause an underslung head to depart, but flown with positive g the whole time then the helo could aerodynamically...

    XBOX360 or PS3

To throw more fuel on the decision, get a PS3. I have a PS3, my brother in law lived with me this past summer and had a 360, PS3 hands down. 1) PS3 is a bit more on initial cost, but in the long run I think Xbox nickels and dimes you out of everything. The PS3 comes with the wireless and...

Looking for gouge? Ask your Stupid Questions about Naval Aviation here (Part 1)

The kind of aerobatics that a helo can do is dependent alot on what kind of head is has. The limiting factor is the pilot, as you fvck up aerobatics in a helo and, well, you're a goner.

    Medical for Civ Flying

Well, I wing on January 11th, so yeah, I'm IFS complete. :D Does anyone know if Branch Medical will give a third class exam if it's not for IFS? I've taken the mil comp exam, but I don't really need the class II medical for the commercial flying just yet. I'm mainly just want to go rent a...

Source for Academy Time not counting towards retirement

I've gotta admit that the time counting towards retirement was one factor that I took into account when my Chief suggested I apply. We were all under the impression that it would count down the road. For comparison, I was looking at STA at the same time as I applied to USNA. Hindsight being...

Another military poser/faker goes down on the net

Serious question, and lemme preface it with I'm not intending to pursue anything. Wouldn't a security investigation want to know about an individual's purported habitual lying, or is there a certain "moral flexibility" looked for in an intel-o? Just curious.

Another military poser/faker goes down on the net

I think the issue some people are having with this is that it's not just another stranger. By his own words he's an intel officer O-6 in the AF, so I think that takes it beyond the realm of usual internet anonyimity.

    Logging time

I've used a civ log for all of my flights so far in the pipeline. On some flights I've been able to add .6 or .7 to what the Navy logged, depending on sitting in the fuel pits, waiting on troubleshooters, etc. I think the average is around .2-.3 more. All I do is put the appropriate...

The Great Universal Health Care Debate w/Poll (note: it just passed both houses)

Just so you're aware, workman's compensation is legal required for pretty much all companies, with very very few exceptions. So, in your example, if you had your arm caught, your employer would be on the hook for your medical care, not you. That applies to practically all accidents. I'm...

    All things MV-22 Osprey

I don't think it'd be any longer than the C2 pipeline, as the current Osprey studs don't go to K-rock, they just do multi and helo, and the helo pipeline for them is really friggin short.

The Great Universal Health Care Debate w/Poll (note: it just passed both houses)

Yes, healthcare is a business. That's because we live in a free market society and we're able to spend our money as we please. However, the way you worded makes it difficult to respond to, as I'm not "buying" my health with insurance. I regulate my health by the choices I make.

    Different platforms/different lifestyles?

I wanted jets because I'm picky and like being by myself in the cockpit, and flying upside down. Helos are cool though because now I have someone to talk to and we can land anywhere we want.
  43. insanebikerboy

The Great Universal Health Care Debate w/Poll (note: it just passed both houses)

I think you are completely missing the point here. I think most people who are against a UHC are comfortable buying insurance from a company with the knowledge that the rest of the people WHO ALSO BUY INSURANCE from that company may benefit from the contributions. That's because everyone who is...

Yes, you can walk into any building and yell fire all day long. If no one reacts, no one leaves, etc, then you're fine. The mere act ofy elling fire is not illegal, but in your post it seems as if you said it is. I'm not going to go to jail or court if I simply yell fire. However, the OUTCOME...

The Great Universal Health Care Debate w/Poll (note: it just passed both houses)

Your individual free choice isn't eclipsed by any "universal" human right. That's why it's called free choice. I can go and make any choice I want, regardless of what human rights may or may not exist. For example, I can go out and kill someone, which is my choice, but in so doing I just...

Exactly why I posted it. Change isn't usually greeted well, regardless of what it is, so how would these Captains react if they were told to hit the road early? Again, just for argument's/conversation's sake. If it's too stupid for you to respond to, oh well.
