$522 for a vacuum cleaner

At least you didn't get one of those Kirbys for like $1000. I did get their salesmen to clean my house monthy when I was in Corpus, though. I have a Dyson, but those stainless steel Kirbys always seemed cool. Paying a price for a vacuum that could buy you a perfectly good jalopy seems excessive.

I got a refurb Kirby for $200 (not from a salesman) that they sell new for over $1000. They hold their value like a Ford Taurus. It is hard for me to buy a product, even if it is damn good, when the salesman is making upwards of 20% commission on the sale.

Just last week one of their salesmen tried to get me to buy a Kirby...$1800. No thanks. Besides, I already have the $500 Dyson so I think I'm good to go.

I love my Dyson, I think I wanted it more than my wife did :)

Oh, and the Kirby salesmen are great for getting them to come to your house and clean your carpets for free and then send them on their way w/o buying :)

Point of parliamentary procedure!
In his defense, I think all married men have been pulled into a restorationpotterypierandbarrell at somepoint in their lives.

Regarding the Dyson:
"It certainly does suck!"

So there are people who will come clean my carpets for free and I won't have to buy anything? Is there a limit to how much of the house they'll clean or how dirty the house can be? I feel like I should have learned of this long ago.

I don't know if you can just call them up. Every few months or so since we've lived here a salesman will come by, give us a free bottle of laundry detergent and ask us if they can do a demo in the living room. I say sure, let them get started, and just turn on the PS3 and play video games the whole time. The only part that sucks is that when they finish and try to sell me a vacuum, I have to tell them no like 10-15 times.

I get a nice, free, deep clean of my carpet though. I have two labs, so it's nice that they get all the pet hair out. :)
