    F-35B?

In Hot, dry places wear brown. In hot, wet places (like the Philippines) wear green. The color should serve as some camouflage for a downed aviator.

Blue Angels/T-Birds grounded, er, I mean, season cancelled.

It's not just PR, the Blues are a huge re recruiting tool. How many folks saw the Blues as a kids, dreamed of doing that are now members of this board??? I am. Not saying it was wrong to cancel the season, I'm just saying the Blues do provide a benefit for Big Navy besides PR.

Blue Angels/T-Birds grounded, er, I mean, season cancelled.

Depends on the Air Station. Some may elect to continue with a scaled down show using civie and local units. The Blues will also do fly-ins to Air Stations to do static display, media and other type events. They still are going to fly (single ship) they just don't have the money to maintain...

At least in this movie (unlike the cartoon) folks actually get "killed" as opposed to having a Granada going off next to you and you are knocked out like made-for-tv violence like TheA-team (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0084967/?ref_=fn_al_tt_6) I don't remember this being in the cartoon either....

Newport was looking to get a carrier and the folks who run Battleship Cove walked through the expenses with them. You need to have a 1000' of pier space, which not many places can afford to give up. If you already have it, then you are taking up a significant piece of income generating...

Rotary Wing Roundup (Helos at work in Maritime Environment)

BZB, Years ago, the Navy had ships (Knox Class for example) that couple not land some of the helos in the inventory. The Perry Class had to be lengthened to accommodate the H-60; hence the term "Stretched FIG". When you had a deck you couldn't land one, there was only one way to get fuel and...

Rotary Wing Roundup (Helos at work in Maritime Environment)

The fuel line plugs into the connection in the cabin. The crew man can manually disconnect the hose however it remains connected to the rescue hoist so in an emergency you may have to cut the hoist to prevent becoming a water skier!

So, I'm watching Inside Combat Rescue and I notice the helos are flying with the cockpit doors off. Anyone know why? I can speculate it's for egress reasons, or for better viz in the LZ (which my be countered by brown out in the actual cockpit) or for weight or maybe for airflow/temperature...

    P-8 Selection

1 squadron done in 2013. Possibly 3 more by the end of the planned Runway project in DEC 2014. That leaves 2 squadrons left to transition in 2015. So, at the beginning of FY 16 there will be P-3's (besides 30 & 62) flying at Jax. The toughest thing is finding the parking for all f them!

The H-3 called ir an "ice shield" since it prevented large quantities of ice from being injested down the intakes. The H-3 shield looks like a wall in front of the intakes where a squadron would paint it's logo. So, I would agree it's FOD. Two photos show the H-3 with and without the shield.

Not exactly true. BAMS-D is the five currently flying Navy Global Hawks. The "D" is for Developmental. Saying BAMS is like saying JSF, it's the program, not the actual air vehicle. Triton is the follow on program to the BAMS-D. Think F-17 and F-18 except we are actually deploying the...
