I verified your name is on our initial roster. I'm a little concerned with your travel itinerary. You said your recruitment office gave you a flight arriving Sunday night but you purchased your own flight? Why did you not just change your given itinerary? Be advised, that you may not be...

Don't stress too much over socks. You will be issued black socks for your boots. For your PTU the uniform regs stipulate the socks should not go past mid-calf. Ankle socks, and black athletic socks are not authorized for students at OCS. Other than that, just make sure you have some decent white...

Here is the exact quote from our website about this issue. Sorry for the confusion. "Upon arrival to OTC, check-in wearing appropriate civilian attire on the Sunday closest to your report date at 0800. Ask the Base Security for directions for OCS check-in and follow posted signs that read "OCS...

Everyone: there is bad information going around that as long as you try hard on your first physical fitness test on Wed of Week 1 that you will not roll into Holding Company. That is completely false. If you fail due to being out of body composition standards, or you fail any part of the PRT...

There is no need to have a separate pair of shoes just for inspection. You can absolutely use your normal shoes. However, I highly recommend you bring a newer but worn in pair when you report. Don't waste your money on something that isn't going to help you pass an inspection.

Great question. You should absolutely register for absentee. That will probably become a normality for everyone now as we are rarely present in our state of residence during an election. If you have other questions about that once you are here we can get the answers from our Voting Services Officer.

Everyone needs to report to Callaghan Hall in Training Country beginning 0800hrs on Sunday 21 AUG 16. You can use your orders to check into the Navy Lodge or Navy Gateway sooner but report for check-in and to commence training on Sunday. I know it is confusing, but if you attempt to check in...

He probably will and it is fair to take him on his word. But, it is then trusting the mail... Make sure you have all of the documentation required as listed on the OCS website. If you have that, you'll be all up round. That way you don't have to rely on anyone else

Your recruiter is correct. When I reported to OCS way back when I only brought immunization records. If you have any special medical/dental concerns then bring your record. Otherwise, the Navy will create a new med/dental record on you that you are going to take to every assignment with you...

Everyone should be flying (if you're not driving here) into T.F. Green (PVD) airport which is just outside Providence, RI. Orange Cab runs a shuttle to Newport and can access the base. I don't think it will matter what color skivvies you have as long as you have white ones for inspection and your whites. This class should not be wearing whites for any occasion during training since the switchover to blues will happen soon.

Yes the class convening on 27 SEP is Class 04-16. 1. PT Shoes (aka "Go Fasters"): No you do not need a pair of shoes for inspection and another for PT. We have a lot of people only bring one crappy pair. Not a good plan. My personal opinion would be to bring one that is newer but fairly worn...

Good question @AJOaks . My recommendation: bring two pairs of running shoes. You will not have a problem with storage space in your rooms. If I remember right, I too brought two pairs of shoes. Don't worry about for inspection or practical use. Just worry about having a quality running shoe. We...

Hey all! As a proud OCS grad I have a few tidbits of advice, take it or leave it. 1. Bring a brand new to very newish pair of running shoes. 2. Be ready for the IST, if you fail, you roll. No orange belt, you roll. That means 3 more weeks (at least): that being said, be sure you can do pushups...

I think you perhaps do not understand the OAR. The Officer Aptitude Rating is derived from performance only on the Math Skills, Mechanical Comprehension, and Reading Comprehension test. The three other tests that ask nautical/aviation knowledge help create the 3 other scores. So your OAR was not...

That's also true, so I've heard. MEPS is run by the Army. I would say though that if MEPS disqualifies you that it is probably going to be pretty difficult to get the Navy to qualify you. Getting medically qualified as an officer is more difficult than enlisted, at least in standards.
  45. navygraig

    April 2010 Boards

According to my OR you don't have to go to MEPS before Pro-Rec but it just helps because obtaining the medical qual can take a long time. Just because you get qualified at MEPS doesnt mean the Navy will clear you to be an officer. It can take months to get medically cleared.
