    New "Supe" setting new policies

I think I've figured it out! Since we're such a nation at war we should be 100% at sea or in the sandbox, no other place, so who cares if they come out redheaded and socially retarded?

    Tailhook?

I'm with Scoob on this one. People get their selection, as snocone said, based almost entirely on timing. Your timing worked out fine for you, but it's also possible if you'd have selected the week before or after you could've gotten something not even on your list. Unless you had an 80 when you...

    RV --> Boat thread

We may be thinking of the same guy, maybe not, but my company officer lived on a boat in Edgewater my firstie year. He had all of his uniform crap in the office, plus his fiance seemed to dig the boat.

    New "Supe" setting new policies

I had an email forwarded to me from a guy who's parents are still in the loop of the parents club. I have to say I wonder if he hadn't gotten pressure from above to cut back for $$$ reasons. I knew some of the ECA's and clubs had pretty big budgets. Either way, it's still pretty absurd in my...

    New "Supe" setting new policies

I don't entirely know about eca's, but a good friend of mine said that club sports are getting hammered. There are two classifications, A and B. Apparently A is almost like being varsity, B is a normal club during season but has to fight for any intramural exemptions. At least that's the rumor.

"Women of CVN76" Get's Skipper called to Washington

Having been there, Papa Nuke doesn't mess around. I'm honestly surprised they even had a camera down there, much less filming. That said, the average Joe can go to the local library to get the info and build his own reactor just like the Navy's. It's not the designs that makes it classified...

    New "Supe" setting new policies

I'm just racking my brain trying to think which instructor would've been tied up in the DC Madam hooker ring. As far as I can remember, there aren't any there worth the $$ to get laid. No clue about BSA's, but something tells me they are gonna get hit hard in funding.

Not cracking on your wife, but if she's quit "several" times using Chantrix, does it really work? (may have just misread your post)

    Marine Huey Down

Just saw this article. Apparently a Huey went down in Arizona, one survivor, four dead. Thoughts go out to the families.

    Liberal Arts School?

Yeah, and that was my exact thought too. When I was there the administration harped on how we were all getting a technical background through calc, physics, etc. Our major was just on top of what we did as a whole, be it English, Mech E, or whatever.
  17. insanebikerboy

    Liberal Arts School?

Interesting article off of Foxnews about college rankings. Apparently USNA is considered a liberal arts school? I never would've thought that, but hey, at least we're in the top 20 and above West Point and the Zoomies.

    ? for jet pilots

Please. The west coast has some good stuff but tops Cedar Point? Try again. There's reasons why it's rated the top park with the top coasters.

Eric Cooper: Navy SEAL, F-14 pilot, POSER Bigamist

So in that picture it has his head just above the 48 inch line. Must have had a big wang because I've heard chicks aren't down with the midgets, regardless of the pay check.
  20. insanebikerboy

    ? for jet pilots

Yup, if you can ever get up to Cedar Point, you won't regret the experience. Consistently rated one of, if not the top, parks in the world. Loved it.

    A little advice for .40 S&W's?

You narrowed down the hardest part. Usually with pistols I say get what feels the best in your hand. For me, H&K have always fit and balanced well in my hand. Sig's are good too, but to me just didn't fit as well. I think you might save some $$ if you went with Sig, but I haven't priced...

    emergency leave

The best thing (if there is a best) is that the bereavement fares are open ended. I went on E-leave, ended up staying home a few days longer and all I had to do was call the airline and tell them my plans, and it was changed with no charge, etc.

The CSOs are coming, the CSOs are coming...to PCola no less!

Yup, Barin is just south of Summerdale which is closed and only for HAPL's and LAPL's, no touchdown. I heard a rumor that Summerdale is going to be reopened and the runways extended when the T-6 comes to Whiting.

    All things MV-22 Osprey

Nah, I didn't mean the Osprey going away as much as I was just surprised that we already have 52 Ospreys on the flight line. I figured maybe 2 dozen at most.

    TAD or PCS?

If you have the actual signed and/or stamped papers saying you were authorized the PCS move, keep fighting it. Since you have the orders plus the authorization, you have a foot to stand on. If it had just been someone in an office somewhere saying "yeah, you were authorized a PCS" it's almost...

    All things MV-22 Osprey

Wow, I didn't realize the Corps already had 52 tilt-rotors, especially considering they've been asking some current Osprey studs to consider switching out of that pipeline to pure helos.

    USAF Question

I heard flight slots are harder to get out there as compared to USNA since almost everyone wants to fly. That's part of the reason I chose USNA over USAFA, oh, and the whole ascot thing. :icon_tong
  32. insanebikerboy

    TAD or PCS?

I dunno, I tried to figure that out myself but it's hidden in the accounting data. I wasn't a true yeoman, just worked in their office before I went to USNA so I know the why, just not the how. I've still yet to get a straight answer on the who owns you question. I guess the SNA's are just in a...

    PCS Thread

To build on that, for my PCS's, I've always been able to call the movers once I'd unpacked and they'd come back and pick up the boxes and take them away. It saves their company money as they can reuse some boxes, plus it saves their movers time unpacking. That, and after a day of unloading the...

    TAD or PCS?

Ok, so here's how it supposed to work. If you're coming from initial accession (i.e., USNA, ROTC, etc), and you are not married, then you'll be TAD to API. As such, you'll get the 600 lb allowance. Once you're finished with API you'll be sent PCS to wherever you go from there from either your...

    TAD or PCS?

Yeah, we were all told the same thing, and then they peppered us out along the classes. There were about 10 of us, got there in June, and the first classed up in July, the latest in October.
  38. insanebikerboy

    TAD or PCS?

Riiight, don't count on that either. I came from grad school last year, got down to API in June, didn't class up for API till end of September.

"Complete, but last flown 22 years ago." Ahh, but the time to check and rebuild anything in that motor. Unless it was stored properly, 22 years of sitting would need a complete tear down. Tell you what scoob, with your insurance check coming in, you put the down payment on the plane and I'll...

Well, while it's probably not 1:1, I have quite a few friends who wanted NFO instead of Pilot. They just didn't want to worry about flying.

    Done with USAA...and advice...

I've gotta say I've been pleased with USAA. For example, I had a $3500 triathlon bike destroyed after it fell off of a car, got the check for full value a week later. That said, just like everyone else, keep pushing it. USAA usually stores all of your documents (savings, checking, etc) under...
