We had a guy in my class in Pensacola who was having marital issues/child welfare issues. During week 9 or 10 he left for about a week and came back with no real implications other than sitting 12 hour ROOD watches every night for the next week.

Well, some people only spend three months at OCS, others spend more....;) BDCP is a very good deal. Tom and I both did BDCP for SNA and I definitely give it a big :thumbup_1 Apply and see what happens. The selection board looks at the whole package, not just your GPA or ASTB scores.

To add to what's already been said...wearing under armour is a bad idea at OCS. Our DI found not one, but two people within five minutes of each other, who had not stamped the inside collar of their PT shirt (this was during PT mind you). That earned our class another two trips bearcrawling...

The time starts from the day you swear in. So if you swore in less than 2 years ago, you get that pay scale. If you swore in more than 2 years then the next appropriate scale applies. See where we're going with this? ;) Google military pay charts if you're confused.

What the LT is saying is that you apply for a specific "job", i.e. Pilot, SEAL, etc. IF you get accepted then you essentially have a guaranteed spot waiting at the school for your job, i.e. flight school, BUDS, etc. Once you get accepted it is your job to lose. You have to make it through...

Put in your package with the current numbers. If you get accepted, then you're all set. If you don't get accepted, retake the ASTB and get better scores. Now your package will have some improvement the second time round.

Or if the Doc is cool and says "you can wait to get these until API, right?" you can respond "Yes, ma'am." 20/30-20/40? You can probably live without glasses during OCS. It's not like the DI's know who needs to wear them....

"Sgt L" was at OCS the same time I was, but he was a class or two behind mine. There was an instance where everyone was moving out of Batt II and into Batt I (there was a mold issue in Batt II). As my roommate and I are moving our stuff, we stroll into the quarterdeck of Batt I and see "Sgt L"...

That's awesome! I've never flown a stearman, but I have gotten to go up a few times in a Great Lakes (same deal - open cockpit biplane, tail dragger). Those types of airplanes are the real deal. Inherently unstable, tough to fly, and tons of fun!! Enjoy and get lots of pictures!!!

I've used that website (annualacreditreport.com) and it's free once a year, but you can't get a credit score without paying for it. It's a good way to get a look at your credit report and verify that it is accurate.
