Good find! People should start with the Private Pilot or Recreational Pilot exams and move up to the Commercial Pilot exam if they'd like. The other stuff probably won't be much use for ASTB studying.

Talk to your recruiter and processor about getting set up with Mypay. It is a great system and it available to you while you're in BDCP. All your paystubs, W-2's and travel claims are available online there, amongst other things.

I'm sure others mentioned this in the other thread, but it's not really your choice - the Navy is going to send you wherever they choose. I know several people that wanted Kingsville and got Meridian, and vice versa. On the other hand, I requested Kingsville and got it....

Short answer - no. You'll need to have the PRK taken care of, heal for a minimum of three months, get checked again by MEPS (just the eyes), and then they will submit a recommendation for a waiver. The actual waiver will not be submitted/approved until you get your full flight physical at OCS...

I did some aerobatics in a Great Lakes a few years ago...probably the most fun I've had flying yet! Enjoy the flight!

I also recommend David Clark's - reliable, comfortable, and a great value. I've also flown with the Bose Aviation X a few times and they are extremely comfortable and quiet (ANR), but I'd be hard pressed to drop $1K on them....

I disagree. See specifically CFR 91.13 - Careless or Reckless Operation, and 91.119 (b)- Minimum Safe Altitudes over congested areas (which Lincolnshire is if you look it up on mapquest.) Personally, I think this was his last flight since the FAA isn't exactly nice about these types of...

I took out about $100K in student loans over a 5 year period (got my AAS, then transferred to UND), but when I pay those off in less than 5 years I'm treating myself to a Shelby GT500 King Snake :D. And also....it's been worth every penny.

Navy OCS is about being a team player. If you're doing better than your classmates, help them out. If you're doing worse than them, do your best and it will help them help you. The biggest dirtbags are the ones who are only there for themselves...

Help? It's as simple as googling "nko", registering as a new user, clicking on "e-learning", doing a search for the title or catalog number of the lesson, enrolling in the lesson, doing the lesson, passing the test, exiting properly so that it saves correctly and you don't have to do it over...

If you don't do it before OCS, then you'll have to do it during OCS....now ask yourself where you think you'll have more time.....

Agreed. While I've only been up once in an Extra, it was so responsive that it made aerobatics much easier (much less finesse involved). I've flown aerobatics in a Great Lakes, Decathalon, Extra 300, and the T-34C. I enjoyed it the most in the Great Lakes (open cockpit biplane, tail dragger)...

Correct. I had PRK done after receiving my pro-rec. However, I was not officially Navy property at that time. I had very good timing and even better luck! Short answer--don't plan to have it done after getting selecting, especially after final select. If you want to do it, get it done before...

What about an indoor track at a gym or your school? I went to school in ND and shipped out in the middle of winter. Needless to say running outside wasn't safely possible because of the ice....

My class secured after RLP (it was in week 3 when I went through), lost it the following Monday, secured again that Friday because of mid-PFA, and kept it from then on out. And no, we weren't an honor class ;). The class behind us felt they "deserved" to be secured because we were and didn't...

My college had a laptop program and we used Dell Latitude's (I forget the model number). I never had a problem with the two different laptops I had while there, but I knew several people who lost hard drives a few times. I suspect it was because they left the computer on in their backpack...
