    bowflex

I'll echo what's been said above...It is super convenient, but sometimes lacks the full amount of weight needed for a high weight/low rep workout session. I'd probably have another one if I had the room for it....

    BDCP Questions

Unless you are NQP medically from the Navy, then you just go home. While I was at OCS, there was a girl who was in H class for several months and was trying to get out without DORing. She was a nuke or BDCP and couldn't DOR without going to Great Lakes. Turns out she had a psychological...

New to Air Warriors/need bdcp help!!!

Are you kidding me? BDCP sells itself! I thought it must be too good to be true the first time I heard about it, but I can't honestly think of anything bad about BDCP. You are guaranteed the job of your choice in the Navy, you get paid for up to 2 years while attending college, no uniforms...

    Interesting IAP's...

Yeah, I know. I used the KLN 89/B (new around 2001) before I even touched Garmin and it was a much better GPS than the KLN900 (new around 1998). It was much more user friendly. Now LORAN, never had the pleasure of using that one....Ever use OMEGA?

New to Air Warriors/need bdcp help!!!

My school was the same way. However, you can generate interest in the program that you've selected by talking to others and by letting them know how good a deal you're getting. During the time I was BDCP, there were about 7 of us going Navy. We were definitely the minority but there is always...

    Interesting IAP's...

Agreed. Civilian light trainers have much better GPS systems like the Garmin 430 or 1000. Perhaps the T-34 has it's POS GPS because the Navy is planning to install some abortion of one after the fact in all the fleet aircraft? Sounds unreasonable? That's why the Navy will do it.....

New to Air Warriors/need bdcp help!!!

I can't speak specifically for priors, but everyone else starts out at E-3 with the opportunity to advance by making Dean's List two semester consecutively and also by referring someone to BDCP and them getting final select. This affords the opportunity to make E-5 prior to graduating.

    Other job offer

To echo mb1k, the story is true and relatively recent (last Fall). That guy was in the same RIGS class as me. He had a projected NSS of 70+. It was his second day in a row being late to class.....talk about a quick way to kill a career. Last I talked to him, he requested an IA and got...

    Attrition to NPQ...is this possible?

Sounds like the recurring theme is that what's in the past is in the past, so start worrying about your future instead. Find another community that interests you, maybe there will be a spot open, and you can continue your Naval Officer career. Best of luck!

    Apartments in Corpus Christi

I would recommend the Reserve at Saratoga at Staples & Saratoga. It's across the street from HEB Plus, has easy access to the freeways, a short 15 min drive to base, and the beach isn't too much farther. Then again, I'm a city slicker and like living in town where things are easy to get to...

    BDCP for online degree programs?

To echo above, ask an Officer Recruiter to be sure. I took online courses while I was BDCP, but I was in the classroom for most of my courses. One would think that as long as the university is accredited that there should not be any problems, but that's purely speculation.

    BDCP Questions

Yes, that's how it works. All the time. Every month that there's a selection board, there are people who get selected, and also many who do not. If that's all you want, then apply only for it. Why wait until the end of the semester? If your package is good enough to be accepted now...

Graduated college 15 Dec, checked in to OCS 7 Jan. There were no classes between my graduation and 7 Jan due to the holiday break. My processor actually wanted to know why I put down the beginning of Jan as the soonest I could attend OCS (it seemed obvious to me!) Like Tom said, you don't...

I was in a very similar situation as you just a few months ago. My sitting height was 1/10" above the max as measured by NAMI at NASP. I submitted a request to my flight leader to be remeasured, which was forwarded on to the squadron's flight doc, who submitted it to the skipper, and then to...

New guy with a few questions

I agree. I hate running but seem to enjoy it a little more when it's raining out. Also, do things like walking lunges (unweighted at first, then add weight as it gets easier and you start to weigh less). Also, check out the Navy's PRT training website. Once you get in decent shape, you'll be...

    Contact Lenses

To add to your confusion: You can have PRK and still have to wear contacts . 20/40 is (was?) the limit for uncorrected vision, correctable to 20/20. PRK can degrade with time.

    Contact Lenses

I too wear contacts in the plane. The only issue I ever had with them was when I was in the centifuge -- they seemed to drag down with sustained high g's (6 and above) and caused a little blur. That or it was all the blood leaving my head....other than that I've never had a problem with them...

    Hey guys...

If you're looking to get into the Navy via OCS, BDCP is something you should look into. Check out the BDCP forum here on AW and ask questions that you can't find answers to. At your timeframe, you could be a candidate for BDCP (and that's a good thing!)

    Renting An Airplane

Rental trivia - If you rent a Piper Seminole (light twin) the hobbs meter runs when there is the oil pressure in the right engine. You can save money by keeping the right side shut down until you're done taxiing and shutting it down after clearing the active (most FBO's frown highly upon this)...
