    Any more ASTB practice tests?

The examples in the ARCO and other study guides are designed to give applicants the ability to develop a system to use on the actual test. If you do that, it won't matter what they show on the test because the fundamentals will remain the same. I suggest you search other threads on spatial...

    Requirements for SNA

First of all, Welcome to Airwarriors! You will find an enormous amount of information here that is both useful and interesting. Next, you have a huge advantage already in that you are asking questions early, which hopefully means that you will have everything together when you decide to...

    Oar

That depends on what designator you're applying for. If you are unsure of a specific designator or have a few different ones in mind, then you'll want to take the whole test as so not to limit your options. If you have a specific designator that does not require anything but the OAR, then...

    Plane Crash in KY

The breakdown in CRM continues: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060830/ap_on_re_us/kentucky_crash "The lone air traffic controller on duty the morning Comair Flight 5191 crashed cleared the jet for takeoff, then turned his back to do some 'administrative duties' as the aircraft veered down...

    OCS Selection Questions

Of course, most people will probably say the sooner the better, but I think that you should not submit until you are ready to have it submitted. Get everything, absolutely everything the way you want it and know that the package is at its best when going in. I can't really speak to your...

    What to bring to OCS

Under the FAQ, where it says "What do I need to bring?" "You should bring the following items when reporting to OCS: b) Underwear, briefs only (6-8 pairs) " It doesn't appear to specify the color, if that's your contention. But go ahead, bring your pastel Calvin Klein's....

    The Air Force gets Myspace

It's all rather ingenious, IMHO. Free advertising on the largest networking site online? What company wouldn't want to do it? (rhetorical) And I'm sure many people here have it, but care not to share.....

    IFS question

I was using the word "attrition" in the sense that a DOR is a form of attrition. Concur with what was said above.
  12. nugget81

    IFS question

I was under the impression that the attrition would be self-initiated for those who decided that flying wasn't quite what they thought it would be.

    Car accident question

I took someone to small claims last December and it was quite the process. It took until May to collect any money, and that was after I had the guy's wages garnished (step 89/101). Like said before, you will learn A LOT about the legal system, but you will spend tons of time doing so...

Chances of Being Selected for BDCP

It could. The best way to find out is to apply. In the meantime, why not work on that weak point by getting involved around school and the community? If you get declined on the first pass at the selection board you can resubmit with new activities and leadership positions. The question isn't...

    Best commissioning path for me

I'm not sure where you got that impression. I graduated from a community college and applied for BDCP the first semester at a university. Again, the board looks at the whole package. I even had a couple of issues with grades from 2 community colleges, but I made sure that I took care of them...

  44. nugget81

Navy embracing PRK at Naval Academy for Mids

Uhh...the flap is used for LASIK, not PRK. I'm positive that my doc ground off some of my cornea (as is the norm for PRK) -- it was a very weird feeling. Anyhow, I'm not miffed that the mids get it for free. Since the day I had PRK done, I've proclaimed that it was the best...

So true for many regional pilots....

Be careful with your generalizations. That statement may be true for you, but using the collegiate educational system to get flight ratings may have been the only option for some people. Smiles in effect.... BTW, we all know what really makes airplanes fly -- money!

    What would you do?

I've never heard of any BDCP applicant getting direct feedback from the selection board. Instead the recruiter typically knows what to look for and can offer some advice on what to improve, if necessary. Perhaps the recruiter has a contact on the board and can get "off-the-record" feedback...
