Didn't NW pilots go on strike within the last 5 years or so? What was the reason/outcome of that? Also, I found it interesting how the article worded some of the ideas: "...who are being asked to provide $195 million in savings."

If you want to buy yourself an extra month, wait until the first day of the 25th calendar month to do the BFR. You just can't log PIC on that flight.

I concur with what Richard and mkoch said. I had PRK done after I was pro-rec'd and everything worked out because the planets aligned just right. The application will take you a month or two to put together, so why not spend that time healing? Good luck!

I've always been told that the officer selection board looks at your whole package, not just something that happened 4 or 5 years ago. It seems that you've come a long way since that time and the board should take that into consideration.

That's interesting. I took form 5 and it had the F6F Hellcat. When did you take it? Things may have changed since I took it a year ago Jan.

If I remember correctly the airplane was a silhouette of a F6F Hellcat. Stick your pencil or finger in the middle of the picture and see where everything is at. Is the ground above the pencil or below? And so forth....

I had PRK done last March and it was by far one of the best investments I've made. I wore contacts for 8 years prior, and I am very happy with the fact that I do not need to take the time to put on, remove, clean, purchase, etc contact lenses. And glasses, I could never stand to wear glasses...

From my research about LASIK and PRK prior to my PRK, I found that comfort was the only real benefit to LASIK. I was in pain for about 3 days after the surgery, but I'm glad I got the PRK instead. Whalebite nailed it on the head...

Another evil thing to do... When doing a landing contest with an IP, on short, short final be sure to ask if they were going to put the gear down for this landing. Fvcks them up every time (sometimes even in non-retractable gear planes)....

They are one in the same. BDCP is the commissioning source. SNA, NFO, Supply, Crypto, Intel, etc are all communities within the Navy that you can be recruited for through BDCP. A pro-rec for any of those indicates that the Navy wants you for that specfic community. As it was said before...

Keep in mind that PRK requires a waiver as well. In fact, when you go to MEPS with PRK done, you are automatically NPQ'd. I am a big fan of PRK as it has done wonders for me, but be sure to do your research and make sure the risk is proportional to the reward.

I talked to a Marine recruiter about the ASTB scores and he indicated that they do not care about the OAR and are looking for applicants to meet a minimum threshold for the PFAR & FOFAR. That being said, they place much more importance on PT than the Navy does.
