Sounds like you will be competitive. There are tons of threads here with people who have asked similar questions. I would peruse those, and if you have any specific questions I'm sure most people here would be happy to answer them.

Honestly just chatting with your peers and super-JOs/SWTIs would be a great way to go. That's where I've heard the vast majority of (apparently) accurate career gouge. Also, our detailer just turned over but the last one was a good person to chat with about options.

Your best bet is to really excel at whatever career you get, prove your worth, and be a pro. If your timing works out, then maybe you can switch. If not, at least you rocked out the job you got and set yourself up for the future. Don't be that guy who makes it clear he'd rather be somewhere else.
