Some stuff sucks I agree but you get to experience a lot of cool things...i kinda miss it. At least it wont be 5 degrees outside for you on the rifle range...now that sucked.

yea no worries, it gets much easier after the first couple weeks

Where have I heard that before :icon_smil

Hey, look at the bright side.... at least you're at TBS... I'd kill to be there right now (so would many others that have been rolled). A: you'll learn a lot ... B: You're that much closer to flight training. C'mon, can't be that bad can it? Plus the MOUT training syllabus is supposed to be pretty high speed from what I've heard.

Yeah, it is high speed, lotta fun ... but by then you are 5+ months in and all you can think about is leaving. But yes, you should look forward to MOUT - it kicked ass.

TBS is a big lesson on how NOT to screw your Marines. You will learn how much it blows to just sit around waiting to be secured. You will learn that getting chow in town at 2100 leaves you with very few options. You will also learn that some of your best times will be over some Copenhagen while you are sitting around waiting to be secured. It sucks, but you look back and miss some of those things - and the Marines.

My husband loved MOUT...but now that he has time to think back on it...as devil_dog stated...all you care to think about is seeing it in your rear view mirror...I of course loved virginia and was sad to say goodbye but then again I wasn't camped out in the snow with everything from guns to packs to sleeping bags covered with ice.

Our old neighbor was retired FBI and worked out there as one of the "actors". It seemed like a pretty fun job...I kind of wished I could have seen it first hand.

Good luck for the remainder of the time there.

Don't get too depressed about TBS sucking in week two. It definitely picks up after the rifle range. The "bullet train" they speak of is no joke, the weeks will start to absolutely fly by! Just don't let yourself fall into the trap of thinking that it is not important because you have a flight contract. Not only is that just the wrong attitude to have as a Marine, but it will also be noted by all of your peers, even the ones you are close to. Come time to peer evaluation, they will let the truth shine through. Some of your peers are jealous/ resentfull that we flight contracts know our destination post-TBS the entire time as they wait in the dark not knowing what lies ahead. Just stay focused on what your doing and actually try to master the information presented. Or look at it this way, you will (most likely) never get another chance to do the things you do at TBS, especially as a pilot. I've heard from a handful of pilots in the fleet that they wish they had taken TBS more seriously, or that they just miss their time at Camp Barrett.

Keep your head up and you'll be in phase IV about to go to MOUT FEX before you know it.

Oh yeh, make sure you get some moto-photos too!

We arent doing the MOUT anymore. Delta is the last company to do that. They are putting a amphib assault landing at like norfolk. That is atleast what the XO of TBS told us in zero week. I know it will get better with time to, it just seems that some of the captains here want to treat the Lt.'s like they are still candidates with the whole attitude. Some are very professional and my SPC is actually one of those captains that is good to go. I feel sorry for some of the other platoons. That amphib assault starts with Echo I believe to.

I would be very surprised if they completely did away with MOUT at TBS.

MOUT is a must... they've got to do it to some extent. It has to be a priority given modern-type conflicts. Its not like we're talking about a class explaining an Admin procedure or something... this stuff is important. TBS Lts., let me know what happens with that if you could. thx.
