July 2013 and/or Rolling Board

I'm entirely new to posting on here, but I've been watching AW and watching these July Board threads over the past few months since I applied. I figured it might be nice to connect with people that may be heading into the same OCS class.

I got a call from my recruiter 10-20mins ago. I was selected for NFO! Wasn't picked up for Pilot due to my vision. I was on the border for the vision requirements, but then I bombed that test at MEPS and submitted for Pilot with a waiver. My recruiter said SWO results aren't out yet and I honestly didn't ask about Supply since that was my last choice. If anyone cares, here are my stats.

NRD St. Louis
B.S. Graphic Design from Illinois State University
3.51 GPA
4 LORs from Student Organizations where I held leadership positions
6/7/6 57 ASTB (took it twice, first time was awful 3/4/4 40)
Applied for Pilot/NFO, SWO, and Supply (in that order)

Congrats to all that were selected!

Incredible jump on the ASTB scores from 1st to second time! Good job

FYI, there is no waiver for vision requirements (except surgery), as long as you are happy with NFO no issues.

Found out this afternoon that I am Pro-Rec Y for SNFO! I think that I might just have the lowest GPA and Pro-Rec that I have heard about so far. Congratulations to everyone else who was selected and don't lose hope if you didn't!

Funny story: my OR called and told me that I wasn't selected and just as I was really coming to grips with the news, he called again and told me that he read the results wrong and hadn't seen my name. Talk about having your emotions played with!

Just a recap of my stats:
I am a 26 year old male, currently in the Navy Reserve as a Religious Program Specialist 1st Class. I am on Active Duty for Operational Support in New Hampshire. I have been in the Navy for just over 4 years. my most recent evals are: E-6: N/A E-5: EP, EP, EP, MP

I graduated from Saint Anselm College in 2008 with a BA in Theology and a GPA of 2.6.

ASTB: 7/8/7 58

Got you beat by a .1 I was selected with a 2.5 GPA.

Thanks for the clarification. I just went based on what my recruiter told me when he mentioned my application was submitted back in April. I'm totally stoked for NFO!

Congrats on NFO! Just FYI supply results have been out since the first week of July lol

Thanks for the heads up on that. I should probably ask about that then just for informational purposes even if it is my last choice. I had no idea they were out. lol.

What were your stats? I'll be applying in December as well!
I was non-select with a 47, 6/7/6 with a less than stelar 2.75 GPA in Public Administration. My OR said it was the combination of my low gpa and an ASTB that just wasn't high enough to compensate. It's just motivation to get 8's and 9's for the December board.

Congratulation everyone, found out I was Non-Select today. It's going to be a long wait for December.

Don't be too discouraged. You're still young and still have time to build a stronger package. Good luck next time.

NAVAL AVIATOR!!!!!!!!! I'm now dedicated to being the next Maverick. DANGER ZONE!!!!!!!!!!!

Lol sorry lost my composure there for a minute. Congratulations to everyone for your hard work and dedication! For those that are aspiring or got NSs, don't give up YOU CAN make it. Take it from a guy who had 20/400 vision in the left eye and 20/300 in the right, coupled with being 20 pounds overweight and who knows what else. It is possible, maybe not in the Navy but definitely in any of the other branches, or the Air National Guard. I started out as an AFROTC pee on 6 years ago, and I knew then that the Air Force was not too keen on sending me to flight school. Don't give up, if I can do it YOU can do it!

No news yet from NRD San Diego. I slept with my phone next to my head so I wouldn't miss the call if it came early. Who is your OR?

Im in the same boat in Oklahoma here...maybe they are on vacation? granted you would think someone else could call.
