Go figure, NRD Jax being that close to a large NAS and my NORS being the closest to NAS Fallon. lol

Yeah I thought it might help being sandwiched between NAS Jax and NAS Mayport, but no. Hopefully tonight will be the last "Hopefully tomorrow" night..

No I didn't get news today. I suppose I'll hear by tomorrow. Not sure why NRD Portland wouldn't release results today.

A person I know had to deal with them, many of the people have turned over that were there and I hope things are better, but he was trying to go NUKE, he was prior, had a 3.5+ GPA, engineering degree and he went through 3 OR's over 18 months, the first 2 left the USN and did not give him or any other applicants notice they were leaving, each time the new OR came on it was a few months later and he rec'd a phone call "so I see you are working on your application" by the time this happened the third time he had just done a final interview for a civilian job, and he told the 3rd OR you all screwed this up, when the OR, OACR, OPS, XO and then CO called him he asked them all why none of the OR's told him they were leaving, or why no one contacted him right away, they all told him "I don't know", he said sorry, not going through this again.

He also had a good physical, and was pre screened by Naval Reactors for Sub

I have been following this feed for awhile now. Congrats to all of those who have been selected! I am out of NRD San Diego. I called my OR today and he did not have any helpful information only that he would call me when he heard something. I can say that my time spent exercising has increased these past two weeks as I attempt to burn off the anticipation.

Found out this afternoon that I am Pro-Rec Y for SNFO! I think that I might just have the lowest GPA and Pro-Rec that I have heard about so far.
Congrats on your selection.
I am a 26 year old male, currently in the Navy Reserve as a Religious Program Specialist 1st Class. I am on Active Duty for Operational Support in New Hampshire. I have been in the Navy for just over 4 years. ...my most recent evals are: E-6: N/A E-5: EP, EP, EP, MP[/quote]
Your low GPA was overshadowed by this...
ASTB: 7/8/7 58
... and this.

E-6 in 4 yrs... PRICELESS!:D

Sorry, but can someone explain more fully the significance of being pro-y? I'd put in for SNA and NFO. I was told that I was professionally recommended, but the recruiter didn't know in what, interestingly. Is OCS a foregone conclusion if you are rec'd?

PROREC means you have been selected by the board to attend OCS in the designator. If you are PROREC SNA you are slated to attend OCS as a SNA. You are now waiting on your Final Select, FS. Your FS will include your orders to OCS and what date/class you will be attending. You have been selected for OCS if you are PROREC, you are just waiting on the paperwork, the FS, to get you there.

Hope that helps!

Technically the OR should say you are Pro rec Y or N, as Pro Rec stands for "Professional Recommendation" so it would be "Professional Recommendation Yes or No" so technically everyone that is not picked is also Pro Rec, but they are Pro Rec no

Oh, that explains it I suppose, but almost sounds counterintuitive considering he still has TBS to get through. Congratulations today by the way Spenz!

The Marines guarantee you a spot in flight school IF you pass the ASTB with a 5/6/6 (you need at least a 6 in either designator to contract), pass a flight physical, and GET selected for it (which means that your PFT is probably north of 290 out of 300 these days). I was a sent to NAMI to get a flight phys then I was supposed to come back and retake the ASTB in order to get a 6 on the FOFAR (I got a 5/6/5) because I wanted to go NFO because the PFT score is a little more realistic for me. You need about a 270 or so now to be competitive which I had. However, upon return from the flight phys I retook the ASTB and got the same stupid scores, 5/6/5 albeit that my OAR increased a few points. My OSO said that I could wait until Nov to retake it because you have to wait 90 days in between the 2nd and 3rd attempt. I called Navy and he said that he could get me on the July board with my current scores. I was picked up for SNA today. Flight phys in hand. I just had my OSO make a copy and give it to my OR along with all my Marine paperwork. Almost everything is the same. I had to do a few things like LORs because all my previous ones were on MC letterhead.

True. Very few though will think saying someone is PROREC means they are Pro Rec N. If a stand alone statement is "Mr. XYZ, you are PROREC for SNA/SNFO/SWO" I doubt the thought is Pro Rec N, rather it is Pro Rec Y.

I could be wrong though, seeing how you are the former recruiter.

I agree, I just get irritated when OR's cut corners.
