come to think of it, maybe we could turn this whole forum into another one of those damn reality shows.

They tried that. It was called American FIghter Pilot. It rocked, and they canceled it after two episodes.

Its place on the scedual was replaced by none other then JAG. Navy wins again.

ya i remember watching that show. it was pretty good and actually showed (i assume) a semi-realistic view of training. so what, they canceled it to put more of the worst television show on tv (ie, jag) on more often. as if once a day isnt bad enough. but then again, where else besides the "pretender" can you find a jag officer who flies f14's one day and navy "seals" the next and saves the world, etc etc. i know i know, ive watched it a few times (it's on so damn much how can you miss it?).

Lis4Lady, I was actually the pusher for Alpha Chi for Little 500 for 2 years. It was good fun. They finished 2nd the first year and 1st the second year. I actually think UINDY is fairly similar, only no Greek system. Where are you from?

Longhorn, AFP was a cool program. I think it didn't work out 'cause they put it at 8pm on Fridays. I mean, who watches TV then...that's prime dating time! I wish they'd put it out there, or at least offer it on video.

just a reality show that followed a class through pilot training. actually they were already flying f15s, so it followed them as they first got to their training squadrons. was pretty interesting. and of course since it was a reality show there were all these different personalities like the cool guy, the tool, the cocky prick, the religious guy who was isolated, and the ip's who made fun of them all.

Yeah, and the really crappy part is that at the end of the second episode the cocky Tom Cruise wanna be was having a speed brake malfunction while attempting to land. It said "To be continued" or not...

They probably didn't have the rest of the shows edited yet.

Next time I'll put [sarcasm][/sarcasm] around what I say when I want it to be painfully obvious that I'm just making a point. Since you couldn't gather the "if you want to be me" comment was an attempt at exaggerated arrogance to sarcastically "fit in" to your stereotypical idea of a jet guy, I'll assume you also didn't gather that if you want to "just pull someone's chain" you might want to refrain from personal attacks and insults. To which I reacted mildly in both cases. Back pedal all you want bro. As long as you can sleep at night all is certainly right with the world. I never said you were jealous though, I said you had to assume people would see you that way when you lashed out at a jet guy and made broad generalizations about his character. In the interest of not offending you with the length of my post (thesis) this time I'll stop here and likely not post again on the matter. I probably shouldn't post this at all, but I'm not comfortable with even one undisputed accusation of high and mightiness, not even from you.

I find it funny that even in a place where we all have so many common interests, we manage to not get along. How the hell is their gonna be peace between Israel and Palestine if their isn't even peace between helos and jets?!?

Splendid and Chip, you guys are both really smart, and really talented folx. Regardless of scores, you guys both got your wings (I really hope I will have the talent to do the same.) I you two should bury whatever disagrement and realise we are the same guys with the same interests on the same team.

I don't wanna get all touchy feely or anything, just making an obseravtion.

Israel and Palestine LOL. To think there could be peace there, you make me laugh.

Ok, now I'm contributing to the thread hijack. Oops.

I concur wholeheartedly that we'd have no trouble spending a night getting housed and talking about alot of nothing as though it were the most important conversation we'd ever had. Understand however that this is certainly not "between helos and jets." Also note that tone of voice and inflection are impossible to convey in writing without alot of creativity and effort. With that in mind and my ego aside, I may have been better off addressing splendid privately, but I decided a public attack deserved a public rebuttal. I'll refrain from such indulgences in the future except in the most tempting cases. I have to admit he was a pretty easy target. I don't mean to discount your question but even if this were "between helos and jets," a little inter-community rivalry, just like inter-service rivalry, would only be healthy for our competitive spirit. Everyone knows Marines hate the Air Force, but that doesn't mean we wouldn't fight beside them. It's just natural to get some bickering among so many type A folks. Please don't ever take it as Jets vs. Helos or Marines vs. Navy or anything whether I'm involved or not. It's fear of such misunderstanding that motivates me to keep alot of stuff off the public forum. In this case however, privacy wasn't really needed.

I guess an easier way to respond to your post is just to say that we're far from arguing, and until someone crosses the line and starts making threats or talking nonsense there's no real reason to take it off the boards, IMO. I trust you guys to assume it's personal and bares no reflection on the opinions of each involved party's community or service. Deep down we love each other, don't worry. But in writing, people are people, and if you're not new to message boards then you know things get heated from time to time. It's rarely a real problem.
