    Interservice Transfer for U-2

I recall back in 2005 or '06 when PBD 720 was going to retire the U-2, starting in '07, and with the last U-2 gone in '11. Uh huh. Yeah. I said it back then: "The last U-2 pilot hasn't finished elementary school". Oh... just so you know, it's now official...

Hangar 24 Brewery Grand Opening, Havasu, 24-25 Feb

The Hangar 24 AirFest will most likely grow to become a two-day event: 19-20 May 2018. Speaking of Hangar 24, they are probably going to do an airshow in October of this year. More to follow.

Yes, there were there, and raffled off a ride in the Cobra. I was extremely busy as the airshow announcer, and didn't get to chat with the AAHF guy however.

Great guys. They didn't need my help, and seemed to be doing just fine. Haha! The Friday night performer party was epic fun. Overall, one hell of a great two-day run. Also, got to meet the Osprey crew from Miramar who were terrific too.

Hangar 24 Brewery Grand Opening, Havasu, 24-25 Feb

It was an epic night following the Friday rehearsal at the Hangar 24 AirFest. Even got to meet a fellow AW member. Beautiful SoCal WX today. Let the games begin.

    Could a T-6B defeat a P-51 in a dogfight?

Very true comment. I was at Chino 2 weeks ago, and the warbird LFE was incredible... but no one was cranking the corners, nor were the engines at combat power. When Uncle Sugar is paying the maintenance bill, run 'em hard! But when we are paying the bill, we better run them easy.

Air Force vs Navy promotion timeline comparison

A few comments... The AF used to start below the zone promoting with the O-4 Board. But that went away around 15 years ago. At the time, however, the AF took the longest of all the Services to promote to O-4. Many believe the identifying of High Performing Officers (HPO) is a problem because...

NEWS The Not So Friendly Skies....

Not so much poor planning as it was poor execution. If you believe deadheading a crew for paying pax is "poor planning", you probably do not have a good idea at how the 121 industry works. And yes, United and others do refunds, though I believe SWA's policy is the least restrictive. Randy...

NEWS The Not So Friendly Skies....

Bad PR, and certainly could have been handled in a manner to minimize that. But I disagree to some extent. The way it works is when flights are overbooked, they look for volunteers. They didn't get enough. This guy was going to get paid $1000 in travel credits. Sorry you got bumped, but...

Are stick controls really inverted like in the ASTB sim?

Shack. I won't fly that in IFR. Well... for that matter... unless I'm getting paid, I won't fly IFR.

Are stick controls really inverted like in the ASTB sim?

SevenHelmet, You need to go fly an L-39 with the original ADI in it. It's a miracle the Eastern European pilots don't kill themselves in the weather with regularity. I'm guessing it is responsible for a few mishaps of US owners. It's ridiculous... about as stupid as the ASTB logic.

    USN Blues vs T-Birds...

Update: I just returned from the Blues' season opener in El Centro. Great show, as always. The show took place Saturday, 11 hours before the clocks changed to Daylight Savings. As such, the sun angles were adequate, and the Blues started their narration at 1430, just like they have for many...

    Air National Guard Commisioning

I have a close relative that just was commissioned by the ANG. OCS/AMS, Pueblo, CSO training, Land Survival/SERE, and FTU took about 26 months. The break between AMS and Pueblo was about 8-10 weeks. Other than that, there were no breaks. Good luck. Many units seem to do a poor job of...

The U-2 IST program has been around about 20 years, and it seems to alternate on whether it is the AF or the Navy that is creating the problems in making it happen. Lately, it's been the AF.
