Bad PR, and certainly could have been handled in a manner to minimize that. But I disagree to some extent. The way it works is when flights are overbooked, they look for volunteers. They didn't get enough. This guy was going to get paid $1000 in travel credits. Sorry you got bumped, but...

SevenHelmet, You need to go fly an L-39 with the original ADI in it. It's a miracle the Eastern European pilots don't kill themselves in the weather with regularity. I'm guessing it is responsible for a few mishaps of US owners. It's ridiculous... about as stupid as the ASTB logic.

You will be fine if you can pass the Class I. None of the things you mentioned should prevent that. I know airline pilots with MS, one eye, missing fingers... you get the idea.

Keep in mind the 20th Fighter Squadron at Holloman flew the F-4 until 2004ish. Although supporting the Luftwaffe, there were a number of USAF pilots/WSO's still flying there.
