    Primary CCX

My XC in August was Whiting-Denver-El Paso-Whiting. Good times in Golden, CO. It wasn't my idea though, Onwing already had the whole thing figured out. I just planned the legs.

    Beretta 96FS Opinions?

You do bring up a great point. If the OP has large hands and does not plan to ever carry the weapon, than the size of the Beretta shouldn't be an issue. But you are absolutely correct in saying that it is a very large weapon compared to the other pistols in it's class as a duty weapon. Just...

    German made P229 question....

Fly, Maybe I confused what the gunshop said. I figured Sig was the one that offered the good price for military via the local shops. I could be mistaken. I'll check out their website and look for the rebate that you speak of.

    German made P229 question....

I had heard from a local gunshop (Jay's) that there was a Sig military deal. They are selling new sigs of various models for ~715 which include 3 mags and night sights. I didn't know that you could fill out some paperwork and get additional money off! Also found out about a pawn shop in the...

    German made P229 question....

If you are planning on switching to a different P229 that may also be in .40 and .357.....why bother selling what you have? The rail is overrated, especially if the one you already have has night sights. The P229 in 9mm doesnt gain much in capacity anyways....just one round, so why bother...

Congress OKs Va Tech-inspired gun bill

Chicago has already banned private handguns completely. But Daley is a communist, so go figure.
  9. NozeMan

Congress OKs Va Tech-inspired gun bill

Funny thing is, the Illinois Bill of Rights has a copy of the US 2nd Ammendment...and right now Cook County (Chicago) is trying to ban firearms period. Apparently a Constitution doesn't mean anything to lower governments i.e. DC, Chicago, etc.

Congress OKs Va Tech-inspired gun bill

If you're making the statement that guns are dangerous....your head is still in the sand. The "guns kill people" approach is asinine. You need to shake off that Kommiefornia mentality and take an educated look at firearms.

Congress OKs Va Tech-inspired gun bill

So does this mean that every Psychiatrist office now has to go through their records and report the "dangerous" people to the government? I like the idea that a simple diagnosis does NOT meat the criteria for being deemed ineligible for ownership, but who makes the final call on this? Further...

    Housing advice for API/ Primary

Don't bother living in Pensacola if you KNOW you will be following on to Whiting. You'll be commuting to NASP for 6 weeks of API plus the A Pool wait....but spending around 6 months at Whiting. Live in Pace or Milton. I lived in North Pensacola for just the reasons you listed....dumb. API...

    Ranges

Escambia River Muzzle Loaders has a range on Quintette RD up in Pace. I just joined. If you plan on shooting more than a few times, I suggestion paying the $75 to join ERML and shoot as much as you want vs. paying $11 a pop at Santa Rosa Sporting Clays. ERML: http://www.erml-gunclub.org/
  17. NozeMan

    Anyone use the ERML range?

Anyone here a member of the ERML range in Pace? I usually have gone to the publich range off Quintette road, but I'm fed up of paying $11 a pop to go there. This club seems like a better option. Anyone have any recommendation for target stands for pistol shooting? Noze

    Direct commission lateral into aviation

It's totally possible to pull off the lateral transfer. I was in Primary w/ a guy who started off as a nuke instructor. He joined the navy specifically to teach nuke stuff (don't remember the specifics), but he managed to switch!

    Beretta 96FS Opinions?

Wow, your approach to "safety" rules out some of the best pistols out there.... There is a ton of research about stopping power in9mm vs. .40. Shoot whatever you are comfortable with. If you like 9mm, just make sure you are using a high quality hollowpoint. They're good not only for...

    Beretta 96FS Opinions?

I'd say that if you like the M9/92FS, just stick with 9mm as well. There is nothing wrong with the round in terms of self defense. If you plan to keep it around the house, just make sure you buy quality hollowpoints for a self defense round. You will not only have an effective firearm, but...

...is not a big deal. I loved being in VT-3, got to fly with instructors from a ton of different backgrounds. I don't think I ever had a "bad" instructor, and the CO is awesome. Seriously, all the VT-3 hate comes from people who were never in the squadron. I think theyre jealous of the...

    Santa Rosa gun show??

I've been to Jays on a few occasions. I think that, for the most part, their prices are outrageous. I'm sorry, brand new glocks with stock sights should not be close to 600.

Custom is worth the hype....for the most part. I had to have custom done to my eyes because of larger than normal pupils. I ended up 20/20 left and 20/25 right. Pretty darn good results, but it is more expensive. I think it tacked on another grand or so to the cost. But hell, theyre youre...

    Glock 37

As far as "bulky" goes, the 21 is not much larger than the 22. You can also get the 21 in a new Slim Frame version. Haven't seen any at the local gun stores yet, but they exist. They have a small grip to benefit those of us w/ smaller hands. The 21 is a bit to large for me, but I'll...

    Target pistol reccommendations?

To add to the slew of recent gun threads.... I'm looking into getting the most out of my range while not breaking the bank. Obviously, the solution is a .22 of some sort. Any reccommendations on what models to go with? I'm looking to spend in the area of $200 or so, definitely not over $300...

    Purchase advice

Get a Glock 19. It's a 9mm so it still can be in the "plinking" category. Load it with some high quality hollowpoints and you have yourself 16 rounds in a reasonably compact pistol. The weapon is very simple, and extremely robust. Accuracy is also pretty darn good in my opinion. A proven...
