Ok, now I am confused. I thought that "out" standards were the "excellent low" category. From the first thread I thought maybe it is the max scores. Can someone tell me exactly which word-category the out standards are? Thanks.
Was it a Gold's Gym? I had some trouble with that too - they wouldn't let me out of my contract because I was within the one-year stipulated period. However, they said that if I could produce orders showing that I was being transferred to another city then my membership could be cancelled...
There are varied opinions on this subject that have been posted before. Try a search for "flight time" or "prior flight time" or "PPL" or "private pilot's license". You will get some good info that way.
I'm not a pro, but I'll attempt to give you the standard answers to your questions.
1. No, there is absolutely no way to know what selections will look like when I get to flight school (early 2005), and it is even more unpredictable for you. Like you suspected, there is not a way to tell at...
I wonder how many dollars that were cut from the DoD budget are being reallocated to welfare programs? In my somewhat uneducated opinion, it's going to take a major catastrophe before DoD budgets stop getting cut. One would think that 9/11 was catastrophic enough...
Well, as far as stripes go, I was thinking of the thin red stitching at the toe of my Hanes socks. They do it on all of them, and they also say "HANES" under the ball of your foot. I would think this is OK, even for the first week?
This is pure speculation because I haven't been to OCS yet, but I wouldn't want to have anything that drew any more of the DI's attention than necessary. Just because stripes or gold toes or whatever seem insignificant now doesn't mean they won't ever cause us to get some "extra attention."...
I don't know what you're talking about. My penalty for dropping out of the program requires me to serve an EIGHT year commitment. Four years active, four reserve. All I can say is read the fine print.
I didn't take the test twice, so I don't have a "before and after" for you. I did study the gouge here though, and I found it to be very similar to the real test. My OAR was either a 57 or a 59, and that was about a year and a half ago.
I know that this Navy/Marine transition thing won't have any effect on me, but I am curious to know whether anyone on the forum plans on switching. I'm sure it is a tough call for some - I'd have a hard time with it myself. Anyone feel like letting the world know their plans?
I think you have to be at least one year from graduation or they just send you into the direct accession program. I mean you can still get an OCS spot but you won't get BDCP cash for it.
Haha yeah, I remember CollegeGuy. I didn't find this site until a little bit after his appearance, but I went through and read ALL of his posts. Remember wintersibs? Oh the insanity...
Tricare is great, GET ENROLLED. They pay all medical expenses that you may incur. I didn't expect to have much to worry about but sometimes you get things in life you don't expect. Tricare has paid out a ton of money on my behalf and there is zero personal responsibility. Get off of you...
The real test is much more difficult in regards to the spatial apperception test. I missed a bunch of them and could do the ARCO stuff in my sleep. However, I think a lot of it was due to nervousness. Just practice so you can do the Arco and get 100%, then you have done about all you can do...
I got direct deposit first, followed by back pay in the form of a paper check. I was supposed to get the paper check first, but it got lost in the mail or something. I suspect that it was sent to my NRD and THEY lost it. I had to sign this form saying that I had never received it before DFAS...
Just a couple of quick things:
People in the know can correct me if I am wrong, but I am 99% sure that you will not be able to select the F-14. I read on this site that they are no longer taking new students to learn to fly it.
Also, wanting a strike fighter platform is great - lots of...
I use USAA. When I started getting direct deposits they went in on or before the 1st/15th. Like today, my USAA account shows that I received an Automatic Clearing House (ACH) deposit from DFAS Cleveland. The transaction is dated June 14, and I saw yesterday (the 14th) that the transaction was...
I just switched from Cingular to AT&T. I know they merged and all, but AT&T gave me a much better deal (military discounts). I got 39% off my phone, 15% more minutes for 15% less money, 10% off accessories, and I am limited to a ONE year contract. I thought the deal was too good to pass up...
So Boeing won the contract... Will today's NAs/SNAs ever get a chance to pilot one of these new aircraft? Webmaster or zab (or anyone else), any opinions as to whether the choice to go with Boeing was the right decision? Any guesses as to whether the new MMA students will go through the jet...
I didn't want to get into this debate on an Aviation forum, but you hit the nail on the head. That is why I bought a Victory. It was an awesome ride and in my experience would have outrun any HD that didn't have some pretty serious mods. You do have a point about the crotch rocket thing, but...
You are right, there used to be a "sticky" about BDCP. I don't know what happened to it, and I've been meaning to make a new one for some time now. If webmaster can dig up the old post that's cool, but in the meantime you can have your friend email me and I can probably answer all of his/her...
binary, go to the OCS website and click "contact us" or whatever the link is. You should be able to send an email and they are good at getting back to you quickly. If you get a response from the same lady I did, I feel certain that she will get your problem resolved ASAP.
You're likely referring to me, and yes, I do have a different perspective. I miss riding every time I think about it (had a Victory Vegas - am I the first cruiser guy to post?). Whenever I see a bike rolling down the highway I get this feeling like I'm really missing out on something. And...
What exactly is a lineal number and why is it important? It soudns like a seniority thing, so would my BDCP active duty status give me some sort of advantage?
I started the application process a little over a year ago and never had to do any interviews. Is yours required or is it just something your recruiter wants you to do?
You can access all of that information online. I think it is https://mypay.dfas.mil/mypay.aspx. There is an option to have a hard copy mailed to you, but I've been in the system for almost a year and have yet to get anything in the mail. I think the statements are actually being sent to my...
I emailed the OCS contact person to get a prospective graduation date (my OCS date puts me there for the holidays.) A Lieutenant emailed me back with my date, an OCS mentor (whom I have yet to contact), and some strong advice to PT and go to the NKO website. I haven't really looked at the NKO...
Bah
BAH for the College Station area is $590.00 per month (assuming you do not have any dependants).
Get BAH information for your ZIP code here:

Man, you guys have it nice. I got into BDCP too late to worry about an internship or anything like that. Not that I'm complaining, the BDCP pay is GREAT. But yeah, make sure you're not getting too busy to make grades and be ready for OCS.
I just thought I'd chime in here - I am nowhere close to selecting (OCS is yet to come) but I wanted to say thanks to all of you who have posted so far. This thread has been really informative to me and I'm glad someone got it started. Good luck to all.
I had tons of problems with my pay. TONS. To get it all fixed I had to call the "local" PSD office, which is hundreds of miles away from me or I would have gone in person. Your PSD (it is PSD, right? I'm not current on all the acronyms yet) Anyway, your PSD is the best place to get stuff...
I'll be headed to OCS within 6 months and am in a position to buy a new computer if I so choose. The one I have now is about 4 years old, but it is decent at completing whatever projects I need to handle. Is there any need for SNAs to have their own personal computers? I am sure that the vast...
LOL yeah we have three of them in College Station. There's one that is literally ACROSS THE STREET from campus and there's another one that is nearby (by Gattiland.) Glad you enjoyed... looking forward to coming back for burritos one day and then flying back home. Watch out for the beans though.
Which one did you go to? The one at Northgate has the best atmosphere but it is also the smallest dining area. I was there this week and noticed a TON of training squadron stickers that people put up in there. Anyway, yes, Freebirds is Freebirds no matter where you eat it.
