    Surprises?

I agree with what Riceowl said. Either you know the concepts or you don't, and that's what the test is testing. As for the spatial apperception section, you need to find a system that works for you and stick to it. It is true that the picture on the test is somewhat different than in the...

    Motorcycle in API

I was told that to ride my motorcycle on the local AFB I need to have a Motorcycle Foundation Safety Course Card and to wear contrasting colors from the bike. At night a reflective safety vest is required in addition. Keep in mind these are Air Force regulations and may differ from the Navy's.

    Eye Glasses = No Aviation?

For 20/23 vision? That's a very big risk with very little payoff. I'm a proponent of PRK, but not in this case. But if you're making reference to the 20/80 case, I would say go for it. I had 20/70 & 20/100 before my surgery.
  6. nugget81

    Eyesight Question (sorry!)

PRK does not exclude you from being a pilot. I know because I had it done last March and now I have a SNA slot with the Navy. However, it does medically disqualify you from pilot, but don't fret, it's waiverable as long as there are no abnormalities after surgery. Based on your prescription I...

    Car Problem...

I agree with what Josh said. The only other thing I've heard, and it likely does not apply to your situation, has to do the newer cars have a microchip in the key. I had a friend whose car wouldn't start (same story with the lights and all) so he had it towed to the dealership, gave them the...

    ASTB Scores

If you aren't happy with your scores and you believe that you can do better, why wouldn't you try again? You have up to 3 attempts on the ASTB. Work hard on the areas that you believe are your weakest, and when you are comfortable, go take it again. You should find that it will be easier the...

    Dumb things you've overheard

The manager of my old flight school told me this one. He was a B-52 check pilot several years ago: They're flying a training mission somewhere in SOCAL and the co-pilot is trying to figure out the fuel log. He keys the intercom (or so he thinks) and says, "I can't figure it out. This fuel...

    Making the decision

Again, I believe that depends on the branch of service you choose. I had a roommate who was in AF ROTC that told me there were spots on the application for information about flight time. He said that there checkboxes (no joke) that said "Zero", "Below 250 Hours", and "250 Hours or More". He...

    Making the decision

I disagree with mules. Someone who has aviation knowledge should have a distinct advantage when taking the necessary aptitude tests for an aviation pipeline. Registered Traveler Program - Good or Bad?

Since not too many people are responding to this one, I'll voice my opinion. I see some potential in the program. It could very well be an answer to increasing security wait times, especially in a time of increasing passenger loads and TSA cutbacks. However, I don't really buy into the fact...
