I think this is the problem, you can apply but there are plenty of applicants without issues. Like someone else said, where there is smoke, there is fire. Your fault, his fault, my fault, issues seem to follow you (based on what you've provided). The worst a board can say is no so apply but know that you're up against folks without issues, at least known issues. I've sat on a few boards for enlisted folks in my time and believe me, there are some stellar types out there.

I never said anything about lying on my application. I just wanted to know if I still have a shot, whether the board will select me or not.

I am actually ok that all these charges were put on me! The way I see it, its an experience that everyone should get (whether its a DUI, assult charge or whatever). No one should get a smooth ride towards your goals in life. We are all humans, we make mistakes. And when we make those mistakes we learn from them and move on. Yes it will hurt, I understand that, but that's what makes us different from everybody else.

It sounds stupid but definetly a good lesson will be learned and never be forgotten.

If its meant to be then it will happen.

BTW, I am a very active military service man. I volunteer all my free time to help out with different projects on and off base.

For example; I am a CS (Culinary Specialist formerly Mess Specialist (MS)) and I work at a medical hospital. Every friday night me and a couple CS's host a non-funded meal for all the patients on base. These patients are military people coming from Iraq and have been spending a lot of time in the hospital.

Obviously no one like hospital food because it pretty much tastes like cardboard. So a few CS's and I thought that we should do a homestyle cooking for all these soldiers so that they can atleast appreciate some good home cooked food. And they dont have to pay for anything, hence non-funded.

This is just one of many that I volunteer my special time with.

So, to all you people who think that I am a BAD person...think I still have a shot if I mention this to the board?

Also, people have been donating money to our little project, and we are now upto atleast 10K.

UMMM, Nope. I am not as guilty as him since I have never had a DUI, a burglary charge, or an assault charge. So, pretty much, you're wrong. In fact, I don't have so much as a blemish of any kind when it comes to legal matters. OH, wait, unless you count the time a drunk driver hit me and totaled my car, because that's pretty much the closest I've come to the law.

I guess my big point is that if a DUI can end a career it should also prevent one. Good on you for keeping your military bearing while you were being processed for a DUI. Hopefully, from now on that bearing will keep you from getting into the car in the first place. As for the charges being dropped, okay, cool I change my mind. Go ahead and apply, but make sure your statment is excellent. As for the explanation of your assault arrest, I have to believe there is more to the story because my BS Flag is going nuts. What lead a completely sober neighbor to think that this guys life was in danger? Where does the burglary come in? Very strange, but really, it's dismissed so you must have learned your lesson.

As for not listening to the guys who are putting you down, like me, it would do you well to listen to the things I am saying so you'll know the questions that board members are looking for the answers to.

Good luck and prove me wrong.

Look, what I am saying that we are as guilty as him is that we all have made mistakes in our lifes and have sinned. I am a true believer of God and his only begotten son Jesus Christ. Wheather we break legal laws or God laws, we are going to be judged the same. I do not look at this from a worldy point of view. I view this matter from a Godly point of view. If this man is a believer of Jesus Christ and follows him, then he is forgiven in God's eyes for his sin. He still have to pay his earthly conseqeunces, but if he prays to God to go into the Navy as an officer, and that is God's will, nothing and I mean nothing will stand in his way from becoming an officer. If God is with you, who can be against you. That's what I meant when I said we are as guilty as him.

WTF are you babbling about? It was obvious as to what the poster meant and you bring in this religious babble. Stick to the subject at hand instead of preaching your BS.

UMMM...seriously, I was just trying to talk abt some dude that wants to be an officer and has some pretty serious issues standing in the way. I didn't mean to break the seventh seal and unleash pretty much the worst parts of the Bible.

A Note: I am abt as devoted as they come but I don't go evangelizing in the middle of a secular conversation. So, um, stop, you're embarrassing the other Christians.

Meanwhile, back in Sodom...my new official position on the "what are my chances crowd"...(trumpets blare...no, it's not the Archangel Gabriel, NAVOFF, sit back down) ...ahem, back to my new position...we don't know what your chances are. This applies to ALL who shall see these presents (also, greetings to you). We, and by we I mean those of us who are actually Naval Officers NOT those of you aspiring to be so, can only give you our best guess as to what we would be looking for were we to be sitting in judgement of your application. So take it for what it is worth because if you came to this site to be commended for your problems you shouldn't have come at all. Let us constructively point out your flaws so that you can address them on your long journey towards a commission.

Now, if you'll excuse me I have to memorize 39 EP's before noon.

Well, what can I say to that except I used to think the same way. Until you have faith and believe, you will never see the blessing of God. And remember, be careful of what you say. Whether you believe or not, you will still be judged when you die for what have you done on earth. What will you do when you take your last breath. What will you do when you take your last breath out of your chest and find out that there is life after death.

Seriously, give it a rest, or I shall smite thee.

Why Not

The Guy has got to have a chance, Dick Cheney shot some guy and he is still doing fine. (Dick Cheney, not sure about the other guy) This is in no way meant to be serious, but feel free to flame away.

Since you are very devoted Christian, please show me a scripture in the Bible where Jesus Christ instructs us not to share our faith in secular conversations. And BTW, I do not mind the critism, Jesus got plenty of it himself.

Since you are very devoted Christian, please show me a scripture in the Bible where Jesus Christ instructs us not to share our faith in secular conversations. And BTW, I do not mind the critism, Jesus got plenty of it himself.

"He who honors thy God in private will be openly rewarded."

Jesus did not speak of God unless he was asked about it. Your relationship with God is between you and him. If you want a religious forum started on the site maybe the webmaster will put one up for you. :angel_125
