03AUG2020 PILOT/ NFO BOARD (REDUX)

Received my FINSEL today. Report no later than 31JAN for the 14FEB class.
Nothing like waiting until the last minute for that. I am also assuming you don’t have orders yet? We have a GroupMe for our class with a handful of us on it, just to let you know.

Nope I do not. I emailed Mr. Celestin to see if he knew when orders would be generated. My admin said its hard to process without them, but my MO said that the FINSEL is for now my orders. I'll download the app and message you to add me.

Anybody still waiting for a date?

Civilian Pro-Rec Y SNA here. Nothing from my recruiter besides "no new info" when I check in monthly. I'm lucky enough to be gainfully employed, so I'm just working out and VERY gradually memorizing Appendix B while trying not to think about potentially moving across the country with less than a month's notice. Hang in there y'all.

Good morning, or afternoon depending on where you are in the world. Today was the last opportunity I was going to get to look at class rosters for names. If you had requested I look for your name and I had not been able to see it yet, please don't get discouraged, your name will pop up, it just takes a little time. I messaged a few of you today to let you know that your names were on a list. To the rest of you still waiting to get classed up, keep your head up and keep preparing yourself. All this waiting is a great opportunity to ensure that you are as prepared as possible for going. I wish the best of luck to everyone and I am looking forward to seeing you all in the fleet.

Guys, the weather is pretty cold here on base in Newport (20s - 30s). Definitely bring winter clothes like long pants, sweatshirt, hat, and gloves. If you don't bring long pants/sweatshirt you will have to order them from amazon when you get here. Also bring laundry detergent pods to do laundry while in ROM and shampoo and soap or you will also have to order from amazon. Also, expect to have PT twice a day on the track. The meals aren't too bad either, no complaints from me. They have us doing some online coursework too so its not been too boring.

ANOTHER NOTE: You have to make accommodations for hotel if you arrive in Newport before Sunday. My recruiter told me I didn't need to, but he was wrong. There is a hotel on base and I was lucky that I arrived early enough that they were able to fit me in. Also, make sure to bring enough cash for the taxi from the airport. Mine costed about $110. Apparently none of the transportation vehicles are allowed on base so an UBER will work too and will probably be cheaper. And if you can, bring a few voided checks. You can avoid having to write down your banking information 50 times. One last thing, you are allowed to have personal electronics like laptops, tablets, etc. during ROM. Wifi isn't too bad and costs $15 a week.

Would you recommend bringing a laptop/ iPad for the coursework or do they provide you with a computer to do the coursework?

We are all having issues with the wifi connection on the computers they provide. Once you pay for the wifi its actually not bad on your personal computer. Up to you though

When you said long pants earlier did you mean jeans or workout sweatpants?
