Which Ride?

That said, the true innovation on EV is from China and I cannot wait until BYD, Geely, NIO, XPeng, etc enter the US market - which I believe will happen sooner than later. All of these companies have engineering and manufacturing talent trained by Apple over the last 10-15 years. This is the way forward. Chinese EVs hitting the US market will be a true quality of life bump for the average US consumer.

Yeah HARD fucking pass on that.

Because the last thing we need is more disposable, impossible to repair Chinese crap flooding the market.

They'll eventually meet NTSB and NHSA safety requirements if they want to be able to have their vehicles allowed on the roads here. When they do that, their vehicles will be heavier (which will cause a range reduction) and more expensive.

I really like my Hyundai Ioniq5. But I've learned that, with EVs, everything from tires to safety equipment and creature comforts are a compromise between performance and efficiency. I recently put new tires on mine, crossclimate2's, but they have higher rolling resistance than the others I had on it. However, the crossclimate2's are a heck of a lot better in the snow. So I see a 10% loss in range but better winter performance when I need it.

That makes sense re: tires. I will soon need new rubber on my Tesla M3 with 50k miles - I probably have another 10K of wear left. Costco has some good options.

This is still the best car I have ever owned and its been a delight to own and drive. I miss having an SUV though.

I keep the acceleration in "Chill" mode and I find tire longevity is a positive result of an easy right foot.

If Toyota would only make a Land Cruiser in pure EV I would buy one in a heartbeat.
