....helping one of your guys get their pay fixed. Plant your obstinate ass in their office and grind their entire department to a halt until they help.

Good one!

I learned THAT tactic early on as a Chief. "I ain't leavin' 'till this shit is fixed".

Last I saw, they are getting the "Japanese Inspection" by the 3-star and above level. Not saying no, but won't say yes.

No, that's not really true.

CommodoreMid:

Don't worry about buying them now. You won't be in a situation where you'll need wash khakis for a while. Worry about it then, if it ever comes. I've only had to wear them once, and that was on a small boy. As a NFO, your chances may be even lower.

As an aviator, if you go to the boat (the real one), you will need wash khakis (or whatever their equivalent is in the future). Don't buy any new uniform component until you're told you need to.

The Navy's been trying to come up with a "flight suit equivalent" uniform for everybody else for years - something easy to maintain and wear, useful for dirty jobs year-round, and looks sharp.

The Blue Digis aren't the best solution possible, but they're a hell of a lot better for work 'round Das Boat than dungarees/wash khakis/SWOveralls. If I'm in a job where I can't wear the bag, I'd much rather wear these things than khakis.

For the studs in the Program: you can buy a set if you want, but unless the VTs prescribe the Digis for standing watch, it'll be a long time before you need them.

Does anyone here see the new digis impacting the wear of flight suits at all? My suspicion would be no but perhaps someone could confirm one way o' the other.

A Chief Petty Officer wears the Navy working uniform (NWU) while shopping at the Naval Air Station Oceana Navy Exchange. The NWU is intended for year-round wear and will be the standard working uniform ashore by October 2010. The NWU will replace working utilities, tropical working uniforms, wash khakis, winter working blue, aviation working green, and non-tactical/environmental usage of camouflage utility uniforms. Unless otherwise prescribed by the regional commander, the NWU is authorized to be worn at all facilities on base. (U.S. Navy Photo/Released)
