Wow. All of that fancy terminology to still be incorrect. Any "hypothetical impossiblity" aside, the plane will take off. It's just that the wheels will be spinning that much faster when it does. This has been beaten to death. You (and everybody else out there) either gets it by now, or never, ever will.

I'm not saying I wouldn't service her. I just might not brag about it to my friends. :D If she weren't a quasi-celebrity, none of us would likely give her a second glance if she passed us on the street. Welder Girl is definitely the better of the two, but she needs to lose the bangs and learn how to apply make-up.

I was under the impression that the circumstances of this test was that the treadmill would equal any forward motion that the airplane would have due to thrust (ie- 60 kts forward on takeoff roll countered by 60 kts rearward motion by treadmill). If that is the case, in the inertial reference frame, the airplane won't be moving at all, no air over wings, and won't move an inch off the ground.

If you're saying that a treadmill moves at a fixed speed but the aircraft can apply a variable amount of power, yes the aircraft could theoretically gain enough thrust to overcome the friction from the already spinning wheels, move forward and gain enough thrust to lift off, with the wheels moving twice as fast or whatever the number would be.


If you're talking about situation #2, then WHO THE FVCK CARES about the treadmill?? The spinning wheels provide a finite amount of drag which the aircraft would probably overcome and takeoff if the wheels could handle it.

I thought the WHOLE POINT of this question was if the airplane wasn't moving at all through the air, which is retarded and no the plane wouldn't take off.


I'm starting to think that people who are saying it would take off aren't actually retarded but are messing with us smart folks. :icon_rage
 
Welder chick body/face combo is NOT hot. Redhead has a much better looking face but her body isn't all that. Now, if you could swap the redheads body with the welder chick, you might have a good combo. Also, something tells me that a chick who is into welding that comes from the San Francisco area leans heavily towards the liberal/dyke ideology...in fact, I wouldn't be surprised if shes a fan of body hair. For the love of God, PLEASE KILL THIS THREAD!!

If the treadmill moves at 120 knots, and the plane lifts off at 80 knots, the then plane will take off just like normal, in the same distance, but the wheels will be spinning at 200 knots.

If the treadmill moves at the speed of light (c), then the plane will take off just like normal, in the same distance, but the wheels will be spinning at c+80 knots.

Get it?? The wheel speed is totally irrelevant to the takeoff roll and indicated airspeed of the aircraft. The only limitation to this scenario is the mechanical limit as to how fast the wheels and tires will spin.

Both of the chicks are 1's. Period. They all are. The only limitation to that rule is when the amount of alcohol needed to get any given male ready to go exceeds his ability to function and/or maintain conciousness.

Saw this video the other day in my feed. I haven't seen a description of the physics summed up so succinctly before, as well as a very clear explanation of why people misunderstand the original question.

Is it possible to make a sailboat that sails downwind faster than the wind?

Or that sails directly upwind?
