trkracer -- thanks for the post. I am heading off to OCS in 3 weeks and have thought about many of the things that you have mentioned. But, I am engaged and thankfully to a woman who is 100% supportive. Yes we are concerned about the time away and the demands of the profession (which I can't comment on), but we both know and accept that my being away serves a greater purpose than any 'job' can boast. I am a "Christian man" also, so I can come to grips also with the moral issues that come with the territory. You'll understand what I am saying when I say that if you really think that this is the direction you are being called, than know that the rest will take care of itself because you showed up despite whatever fear you may have.

HooverPilot tip of the day...

When you find the mattress that is right for you, remember this...You don't want them to just pack up the floor model and send it to your house. You want the one in the back room that is just like the floor model but has never been laid upon. Call it a bonus if you will. :)

This is not a picture of a bible study class, and I doubt this girl was a Sunday school teacher.

These guys in my squadron were in some bar in, San Luis, Mexico. (Sorry for the quality, a friend, Walt, scanned and emailed it to me today.) Yuma DET’s were fun!

My buddy just got back from Boot Camp and he told me how just before they were all going to leave a drill Sergent asked "Who all here is planning on going home and getting married". Apparently about half of the people rose their hands or shouted. The Sergent then said "Don't, just wait and don't go rushing off into things you might regret later". Anyways what I guess I'm trying to say is don't plan on finding a girl and getting married right away, it will happen, no sense in rushing into it.

El Centro dets were pretty good too - Mexicali and the Meow Meow come to mind. No bible study there either, odd considering all the "oh god"s.:icon_rage

Brownshoe failed to provide the background info on this photo. It was actually part of the reconciliation following '47's "zoot suit riot" incident. :)
