If you read the article, he said that as a way of saying, "I've been so hard on China compared to my predecessors that they've changed their ways. Go me. Winning." In typical Trump fashion. But look at his actions toward China throughout his presidency. Do I need to find the dozens of articles talking about him calling in the Wuhan Flu, China virus, saying China should be punished for this, etc etc? After all the sanctions he put on China, the "trade war" many derided him for starting, do you really believe he and Xi are best pals?

You are saying you don't believe Trump when he says that his intel indicates the Chinese lab leak is a real possibility but he can't discuss it, but you believe him when he says they love each other at a summit? There are plenty of reasons he wouldn't/shouldn't declassify intel, as I'm sure you know.

I don't believe anything he says

Or maybe he didn't have the intel and was just lying. I put my $$$ on him lying.

If he had the intel, they could have given steers to media to put them on the trail so it looked like they found it out. Instead it was a crowd-sourced internet project, which actually is pretty cool.

So give it (facts, not politician's unsupported opinions) to Fox News or the WSJ. I didn't see any of those in your pretty little collage.

So the journalists couldn’t have just done their job to begin with?

Furthermore, you acknowledge everything that this frequent contributor to Fox News says is true? You’ve finally taken a red pill?

“For over a year, anyone who questioned the official NIH/NIAID/Fauci narrative that the COVID-19 pandemic was the result of a new viral mutation that had jumped to humans from bats (or pangolins)—perhaps carved up in the Wuhan wet market—was attacked both personally and professionally. Why? Mostly because Trump himself had questioned just that improbable hypothesis. And Trump certainly could not be right. But even if he were, it was still the moral thing to say he was not.

Connecting the dots of a biosafety level-4 virology lab, at or near the first recorded cases of COVID-19, was a mortal sin—simply because Trump had alleged just that. Instead, we were to discount the twisted relationships between the known gain-of-function viral research going on in the lab, the absence of any known animal infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus, the connections of the lab with the Chinese military, the lab’s known lax safety record, the systematic efforts of the Chinese Communist government and the World Health Organization to lie about the origins and nature of the virus, the year-long effort to stonewall Wuhan investigations, and the conflict-of-interest statements, behaviors, and policies of prominent American health officials who routed funding to gain-of-function research at Wuhan.”

Why didn’t journalists from Fox News, the WSJ, the NY Post, or other organizations do it? Good question.

Based on the article you linked to, it took hundreds to thousands of crowd-sourced man-hours to pull all of the puzzle pieces together. All of those pieces were in the open literature, by the way.

But if the intel community already knew where the pieces were via whatever means, it’d be easy to tell someone where to look.

If they knew.

If Trump wasn’t lying about having the evidence.

The idea has been here all along. Do you not remember journos getting deplatformed from social media for daring to say that the virus was man-made? Big Tech and Big Media suppressed any dissenting opinion from The Science (TM).

Because, as you said earlier, you refuse to believe anything Trump says. You’re literally admitting to your own case of TDS. And we all know you’re not the only one who feels that way...

The question is, since COVID-19's origins could be man-made, what do we do about it? Forget politics, personalities, and slinging mud for a moment.

The Chinese aren't going to admit to anything, and they've been obfuscating and covering up things this entire time which, to my way of thinking, lends credence to a lab leak origin. There isn't likely to be a "clean" moment where it is publicly and incontrovertibly proven that this virus came from the WIV (although that would be nice). My take is this is thing a political hydrogen bomb, and the powers-that-be would far rather have us all slinging mud at each other than actually exploring the implications of what it's increasingly apparent may have happened. Smoke screen.

So. What should be done? What needs to change?

IMO, gain-of-function research needs to be heavily examined at a minimum. Flow of research dollars between nations needs to be contingent on meeting certain wickets and should require direct international oversight, which apparently didn't happen. Quite frankly, I think it'll be very difficult to control GoF experiments. But that doesn't mean we shouldn't try- our adversaries certainly will be. On the admin side, understaffing and rapid turnover in our own government agencies needs to be examined. Executive overreach needs to be walked back. Our system of checks and balances is out of balance. I think we're going to regret the governmental changes of the past 10-15 years, if we don't already.

I'm sure there are plenty more good ideas out there.

Trump and Xi are good friends? Disingenuous effort to create a Fauci boogeyman? All political bullshit? Yeesh. You either aren't paying attention, or you're the one making disingenuous comments.

Trump sanctioned and came down harder on China way before 2020, then he called it the Chinese virus from the get go. He stopped US participation in the WHO because it's clear they were not taking the lab leak idea seriously.

Fauci has been called out in this post since it's inception, and rightfully so as he's flip flopped and not followed the science throughout this pandemic. This is all just icing on the cake.

Is it mere political bullshit that Chinese negligence might have led to this whole catastrophe? Or that American actors played a huge part in a disinformation campaign during an election, about something that should absolutely have not been made a political football?
Actually, there should be a Venn diagram made of the following 3 things:

1. People with their head up Trump's ample ass.

2. People with a visceral hatred of Dr. Fauci.

3. People who think the election was stolen.

It would probably encompass half of the current GOP, which is sad. Not saying that's you, but it probably applies to those that serially post on this thread.

1. People who hate everything Trump.

2. People who think that Fauci, and anyone else who has ever disagreed with Trump, is incapable of lying.

3. People who think nothing abnormal happened during the past election.

It would probably encompass half of the current democrat party, which is sad. Not saying that's you, but it probably applies to those that serially post on this thread.
Fixed it for you.
