Yeah... It replaces the ADI and HSI with glass versions. Its not a 100% glass cockpit, but is certainly better than legacy instruments.

I can't speak to a HUD... but the T-44C doesn't have one so not really an issue...

All of our aircraft are EFDS.... half the birds at VP-30 are EFDS half are legacy... I have plenty of experience transitioning between legacy instruments and EFDS aircraft... sometimes in the same day.

If thats the real reason, it's a pretty stupid reason. Transitioning from a traditional instrument system to electronic is pretty easy. Going through 35 would set you up just fine. And what happens if you want MPRA but dont want to go VP? You have to make the decision to go VP or VQ right...
