    T-44 For The P-8?

    Yes.

    Range Pack/bag

I have a few 5.11 tactical products and I love them. Solid construction and thoughtful design. The only thing I dont like is the price.

    T-44 For The P-8?

Could be the Canadians. Their P-3s are all tricked out inside... kind of look like a rape van on the inside, with the carpet and the wood trim.

    T-44 For The P-8?

I can't speak to the Herc or the Hummer, but in the P-3 the FEs perform mostly in a systems management roll, mostly having to do with the engines but not exclusively. They also act as a scan backup for the pilots in a lot of ways. Could the pilots be tasked with performing those tasks, yeah...

    T-44 For The P-8?

Nope. Our FEs are all wearing a "dying breed" patch right now. Supposedly the IFT is also going by the wayside... It's sad that they are going away, apart from making sure the plane stays airborne, the FEs add a great deal to the flight station. That being said you really cant make the...

    T-44 For The P-8?

I dont know if the MPRA community is going to be able to handle an aircraft where all the cockpits look the same, and instrumentation is in a logical and reasonable place.... We're going to have to move some of those screens around in at least a few aircraft...

    T-44 For The P-8?

That's pretty impressive... Too bad the Navy wont cough up the cash for something like that for the P-8.

    T-44 For The P-8?

Fair enough, but the T-44C doesn't have all that much more glass than a P-3 with CNS/ATM... I understand the thinking there, but only picking people out of 31 that flew 44Cs seems a little overboard to me... Someone who flies 44As or C-12s could just as easily perform in the P-8. At least thats...

    T-44 For The P-8?

Yeah... It replaces the ADI and HSI with glass versions. Its not a 100% glass cockpit, but is certainly better than legacy instruments.

    T-44 For The P-8?

I can't speak to a HUD... but the T-44C doesn't have one so not really an issue...

    T-44 For The P-8?

All of our aircraft are EFDS.... half the birds at VP-30 are EFDS half are legacy... I have plenty of experience transitioning between legacy instruments and EFDS aircraft... sometimes in the same day.

    T-44 For The P-8?

If thats the real reason, it's a pretty stupid reason. Transitioning from a traditional instrument system to electronic is pretty easy. Going through 35 would set you up just fine. And what happens if you want MPRA but dont want to go VP? You have to make the decision to go VP or VQ right...

    T-44 For The P-8?

Have they been told that they are going to go through a different Multi syllabus? It would seem superfluous to select P-8 out of primary... why not just wait until advanced?
  14. statesman

    T-44 For The P-8?

So you are saying there is a Maritime P-3 and Maritime P-8 directly out of Primary now?
  15. statesman

    T-44 For The P-8?

I'm not going to dispute that, because timing wise it makes sense, however my guess is that they will have to compete for those coveted P-8 spots. We are picking up the last of our P-3 pilots in the next few classes out of 30, and then the next guys we pick up are going to be P-8 guys. VP-16...

Orion Obsession; giving it up for the mighty P-3C

Quote from a PPC on the day I checked in as I was being introduced to the ward room: PPC: "You can make fun of NFOs all you want." 2P: "Even though he is a brand new 3p?" PPC: "I definitely think a new 3P is higher in the pecking order than an NFO. The order is PPC, 2P, 3P, TACCO, probably the...

Orion Obsession; giving it up for the mighty P-3C

Definitely a cool picture, but I don't think it fully captures the majesty of the P-3... Now if the artist could somehow get across that the crew is currently experiencing an emergency, or could somehow express the hatred being shown to the NFOs (mainly the NAVCOM) by the flight station...

When I think of "identity crisis" I think of the Navy. When I hear "clinical schizophrenic" I think of the Air Force. Closing in on 60 years, and still they have no clue who they are.

Brett hit the jackpot there. Band of Brothers, Rome, and West Wing were some of my favorite series ever produced. Rome season 1 was insanely awesome. Early in the series but so far New Girl is really funny and Tera Nova has been good as well. American Dad Aqua Teen Hunger Force Squidbillies...

    PRK with unstable vision

Well if you already have your answer there is little that can be done. You can go all the way until 27 so if your eyes calm down in the next two years you still have a chance. As said above being an NFO is an option. And there are NFOs who transition to pilot, so that maybe an option later...

    Service Assignment

There is a reason you hear it over and over and over again. When you get to primary are you going to try harder if you know your NSS is low? Are you going to slack off if you know its high? If the answer is yes, I wouldn't want to fly with you Does it matter what the GPA of this year's SNAs...

    T-44 For The P-8?

I have to agree with Prop... TC-12s for me was far more flying centric than it was systems centric. VT-28 and VP-30 had more systems than did VT-35. But then the question was directed towards T-44 guys, so that experience may have been different than mine.

    T-44 For The P-8?

The P-8 has been coming for a long time now... and the 44C mod is not cheap. It's highly likely that the TC-12 and the T-44 will be around for a long while. Then again I have been surprised before at how shortsighted the Navy can be.

Disagree all you want but eas is right. The test is designed to identify people who have the APTITUDE for aviation, not for people who can study the information. The FAA pilot manual probably isnt going to help you that much. Unless they have changed the way the test grades, the aviation part of the test isn't weighted to heavily. You're going to make your money on the math, and mechanical / physical aptitude. I dont know what you're doing to study...
