    Online Engineering Courses?

-Calc up through multiple differentiation (3 quarters--trimester system) -Engineering Physics (3 quarters) -3 statistics classes I'm just interested in adding a little technical education to my background. I didn't know that I wanted to study engineering in college until my sophomore year...

    Online Engineering Courses?

Does anyone know of any schools (community or university) that offer engineering courses online? Nothing too advanced but maybe some MechE stuff? I tried using google, but the ones that I have sifted through usually require at some point for you to come in and take either or test or lab...

Your chances are....(penalty box for those who can't help asking about their chances)

and the key thing a lot of people forget is that you need to be correctable to 20/20. Its easy to think, oh I just need glasses because I am 20/40. Not everyone corrects to 20/20 though...witnessed a girl crying in NAMI about that. I'm sure you'll be fine though if you passed the first...

    airsickness drugs at primary

i mean my flying background is limited, but yes that is pretty normal. different sensations affect different people. thats probably why motion sickness is the general term and it is sub-divided into airsickness, seasickess etc. I know and witnessed several people on cruise who had iron stomachs...

thanks i appreciate the responses. it took me about 15 flights to stop feeling queasy in IFS, so I was just curious as to what kind of help they provide. thanks again.

do you continue at the chair if they give you drugs too? I'm just asking because I'm anticipating having problems and I was just wondering what the program was like.

Prerequsites for tactical flight training, length, etc

I would recommend not setting your sights on jets so early in your not yet started career. In my opinion, its much better to go in with the attitude of wanting to earn your Wings of Gold. Its a much easier goal to follow, and a goal that you can actually exert a significant amount of control over.

Scale model fans...questions and showcase of work

If you want to do something like he did, then yes it can be pricey to get into. He did a fantastic job on that. It takes considerable patience to eliminate all the gaps between the fittings, putting on washes to get that dirty look, and multiple coats of paint. The biggest investment will come...

    ASTB scores

the Marine Corps is in need of pilots right now so it wouldn't surprise me that its pass/fail. 6/6/6 is somewhat competitive anyways. According to NAMI, your in the top 26.9% and 26.4% scores for AQR/PFAR and AQR/FOFAR distributions respectively.

How go NROTC and fly Marine?

you basically can go through the Navy side of the program all the way up to partially through your junior year before the transfer to the Marine options must occur. You will most likely put in your package toward the beginning of the school year. I had two friends who did this my junior year of...

SNA select, will I get really get the job I want?

I think that sounds right because the quote regards all the people who attrite out of training for a given year. This includes people at different phases of training, as well as IFS, medical and exam failures.

SNA select, will I get really get the job I want?

If you put in your selection package and don't get picked up for pilot, then yes you could get a job you don't want. Same with someone else said about being NPQ'ed. One of my best friends majored in aviation but got NPQ'd when he got down here because of some random eye thing (switched to...

    Aviation Supplementation Portion of ASTB

I sent a quick email to an LT who also administers the test. He said it does factor into your score somehow, but each component is weighted in a different way. So it looks like it doesn't play a heavy factor into your score, but should be taken seriously. I remember getting a math test. It...

    Aviation Supplementation Portion of ASTB

Here is the information directly from the NAMI. The PFAR part of the exam is concerned with the aviation part. So if your pilot, you should be very concerned with this section it looks like. Which tests make the greatest contribution to each score I receive? The formulas that are utilized to...

    Aviation Supplementation Portion of ASTB

I don't know about now, but I am fairly sure when I took the test the aviation part counted. Since I was NROTC, the only part that didn't count for me was the OAR score. The aviation scores (the three numbers) are what were used to evaluate me and the aviation part factored into that (at least...

    Real OCS Fitness

they are only the worst form of IT exercise (in my opinion). if you getting thrashed, the DI will often make sure that your knees break the plane of your hands. i think they are the worst because you don't really reach muscle failure like a push-up, but they physically exhaust you very quickly...

Is there any sort of volunteer work that I can participate in while in API/Primary that doesn't require say a year long commitment (i.e. Big Brother)? I am sure there is plenty of stuff out there, but being relatively new to the area I have no idea where to look. Thanks for the help.

When I was a junior at NROTC one of the seniors got nailed in the head during a flag football game. He was taken to the hospital and had a concussion. He went to a several civilian docs who wrote him letters declaring that he was fully fit for duty. The Navy refused to waiver him for Naval...

    NFO to Pilot Transition?

acoustic2, i can get you the quota email sent out from Pensacola about how many pilots, NFOs, nukes etc they need. to answer your original question, yes there is a program to transition to pilot, but I wouldn't go in assuming your going to get it. PM me if you want that info.

Ensignhood, debt, cars, and family help therewith

If your paying for his roommate and board and he has to assume his living expenses he's going to be just fine. A single ENS makes comparatively a lot of money for someone his age. NFO to Pilot Transition?

i base it on my roommate trying to do it, and a friend a few months ago who was unsuccessful. I am also basing it on the fact they've confirmed A-pool needs to be reduced by 100 people again this (and thats 100 pilots--I asked).

    NFO to Pilot Transition?

From what I've heard, its basically all about timing. Right now they don't really need pilots, so I believe it would be pretty hard to transition.

I can't remember what the exact percent is, but I believe the fleet is composed of at least 50% helicopters. The rest of the fleet is a variety of aircraft that include jets (not only F/A-18s). As statesmen said, check out the ROD (regulations for officer development). However, this is an...

    Aviation contract?

i wouldn't base your choice on Navy or Marine based on which you can get an air contract from. Your first question should be "do you want to be a Marine?" There is a different culture in the Marine Corps and you will have a very hard time if you don't grasp that. Also, infantry is the number...

Navy Helos and support to Special Operations

i meant going out and doing things as opposed to going to a squadron that might not deploy as much (I don't know the truth to that but I am sure some deploy more than others). I'm pretty intimidated about the mountain, but having an endstate in mind makes it seem a little bit smaller.
  39. torpedo0126

Navy Helos and support to Special Operations

I might have a mild case of that, but I know that naval aviation is not a film production. The reason I asked the original question is because I was talking to a prior and he was telling me thats what he was looking to do (coming from aircrew). I was just interested. I actually have no...

40 Reasons guns should be banned

First of all, why do so many people FREAK out if some asks something other than a friendly question. Also, I didn't say I supported that, I asked where do those people fall in the argument.
