I know this has been asked already (interservice transfer)

Sorry to bring this up again...I was wondering if anyone could help me out with information on an interservice transfer from USN to USMC. I searched the forum but I could not find any definitive answers on specifically how to go about this. I already havy both MILPERSMAN 1300 and INST 1000, but...

i would like to point out that i DID NOT START THIS THREAD. someone quoted me from some other thread where I was just offering something I had heard. Obviously it was wrong, so I apologize. but i didn't start this thread to discuss this

Yes, thats what we have been talking about. The NAMI physical is before API. You probably will have other flight physicals as well, but NAMI is the big one. You will also have an annual abbreviated flight physical and a full flight physical every 5 years. Your biggest chance for getting dropped...

    ear popping/ pressure

Not to scare you or anything, but just remember MEPS is only one step. You will still be examined by NAMI and have an annual flight physical. Since this stuff is in your medical history it will be reviewed at NAMI. I had a history of ear infections as a child and because of that the Doc at NAMI...

100 in A-Pool to be attrited via inspections? YGTBSM!

I know someone who went to a board just recently and he said that he was informed that the amount of money invested in you has a huge impact on the outcome of the board. For instance, a 4-year degree from a private institution that the Navy paid for will bear more weight than a 2-yr scholarship...

your going to need an age waiver for 30 years. I know only ONE pilot who got an age waiver for being 31. I know 2 that were forced to switch NFO for being 30.

    waitin on meps

ADD is now known as ADHD...at least according to wikipedia. I would assume you have the AD component. I would be concerned about both because as an officer not only will you operate expensive equipment, you will be responsible for it.

    NPQ from OCS

Here is another scary story--The ENS who was in charge of FltMngmt when I arrived was NPQed when she got here because she didn't have peripheral vision. I felt awful for her because that should have been caught a long time ago. I underwent 2 flight physicals before commissioning and then 2...

if there is no explicit rule against putting moisture drops in your eyes then I wouldnt be too concerned. I don't believe they are prohibited to be in a flight status. I had no idea about this at all. I did it once after I had PRK because my eyes took about 9 months before they stopped drying out. The reason I did 5 minutes before is because when I put them in for a few minutes my eyes would be really watery and it would cause me to blink a lot. If that's...

  27. torpedo0126

    Open Heart Surgery Waiver

I wouldn't rule it out at all. I personally think NAMI/NOMI and all the related waiver stuff is one of the most unpredictable things in the Navy. I know one person who was NQPed for having eczema, and I know another person who received a medical waiver for having a benign brain tumor. I know...

    Pre-commissioning Loan USAA

The USAA rate has gone up, its no longer 2% (with our current economy). However, if you can I recommend checking out the Navy Federal loan. My roommates (both went to the Academy) both got Navy Federal loans for 0.5%. I couldn't believe it until he showed my the contract and the online...

    Not correctable to 20/20

I forgot to mention that my friend failed the same part of the exam you did (the ten rows of letters and they ask you to read one row??). She kept missing one letter. Worst case scenario, you could probably switch to NFO. However, the wait to class up for API for USMC NFOs is ~18-24 months.
  30. torpedo0126

    Not correctable to 20/20

The thing is that you aren't correctable to 20/20. One of my best friends and I BOTH got PRK. I fortunately ended up with 20/10 in both eyes. My friend had one eye at 20/20 and the other at 20/26 uncorrectable to 20/40. She had to switch to NFO. PRK (and LASIK for that matter) will, at present...

    Non-Citizen Naval Aviator

I think the security clearance might be the biggest obstacle. After getting your citizenship, you will have to apply for a Secret clearance (all officers must have that). Most likely you will then have to get a Top Secret clearance...thats where I could see a real problem.

I think thats an excellent point. Also, if I recall correctly, NONE of the 9/11 hijackers were Mexican, but Arab immigrants with legal visas (not sure about all of them). Seems like we are giving Visas to the wrong people...well-educated men with intent to kill mass innocents as opposed to...

I wasn't advocating illegal immigration at all?? I'm completely for knowing who comes into our country. There is nothing wrong with allowing people into the country, as long as they aren't "bad." If you relax the immigration standards you will have "good" people crossing the border normally...

I don't remember any of the 9-11 terrorists being linked with Mexican immigration, but I could be wrong. There is nothing wrong with keeping track of who is coming across your borders, but its stupid and a waste of money to try and prevent peaceful workers from immigrating. Also, I find it...
