    Need a little help!

http://www.airwarriors.com/forum/showthread.php?t=132360 That's what worked for me. Don't rush it. Study for as long as need be. It's better to study for a while than rush into it and waste one of your 3 valuable chances at taking the test.

Pretty Cool Vintage Letter From The Navy

Forget it. I don't know what's going on with this thing. I'll get the picture to work, then I'll come back later and it's gone. Oh well.

    Johnny Five Alive!!!

Yikes. Stuff like this honestly makes me wonder...if there ever is a full-scale World War III, how much will humans really be involved. I remember reading about a possible weapon of the future that will shoot a laser from a satellite in space too.

Pretty Cool Vintage Letter From The Navy

    - My Uncle received this letter when he swore into the Navy in the 1960s. This seems so traditional and outdated to me. I wish the Navy still did this. As far as I know, they sent my parents nothing. I swore in and went on my merry way. - By the way, I guess they are still correct about the...

I submitted my application in July and didn't get a yes or no until the end of September for BDCP.

    BDCP Q's

Some out of character things I did that helped me: - Went on a touchy-feely retreat in the mountains of Vermont and then applied for and got a retreat leader position for a future date. I did this solely to enhance my Navy app (hey, everybody's guilty of doing stuff just for the resume)...

Computer Good Enough For Flight Simulator?

Anybody think this machine could handle an older version of Microsoft Flight Simulator? I don't want to go back to the early 1980s versions, but I'd be happy with something from the late 90s or so.

Computer Good Enough For Flight Simulator?

Thanks FlyNavy. It says: Intel(R) 82852/82855 GM/GME Graphics Controller. I have no idea what that means. Whatever it is, it's probably trash.

Computer Good Enough For Flight Simulator?

I'll see what happens when the demo finishes downloading. For future reference (probably getting a new laptop soon), how do you find out what your video card is on your computer? I can't figure it out.

Computer Good Enough For Flight Simulator?

Good call. I'm downloading the demo right now. Computer Good Enough For Flight Simulator?

To anybody who is good with computers: My computer is a 2003 Toshiba Satellite (I know...garbage) with an Intel Pentium 4, 2.20 GHz, and 496 MB of RAM. Is there a prayer in hell this thing can handle Microsoft Flight Simulator? I have never played an advanced computer game on here so I don't...

    The Future: F-22 and F-35

That's a bummer. I would have loved to have had a shot at flying the raptor. Does anybody think that people like me who are going to OCS in 2007 will have a shot at flying the F-35, or will I be coming in too early?

    The Future: F-22 and F-35

I've searched and can't find much at all about when the Navy is supposed to be getting the F-22 and the F-35. The wikipedia article about the F-35 says the F-35 is supposed to enter the Navy in 2012. Is this legit? And what are the rumors circulating about the raptor?

Well, it's official. I swore in today on Halloween. Here I am: Note that I dot not have an actual photo of the oath. My friend Charlie was on photographer duty and he dropped the ball big time. Hopefully I'll see you guys from a few thousand feet overhead one day.

    Landing On Carriers

Flynavy, I noticed you said nothing about banking the plane and also said no rudder pedals. How would power correct for the lineup? In the videos I've seen, the planes don't appear to be doing any banking. I guess it's really small huh?

    Landing On Carriers

...well. One last shot before the thread goes into the dustbin...as the first two people to reply clearly think the whole thing is not worthwhile. Landing On Carriers

I was reading about students practicing for landing on carriers with a painted runway and a meatball on the side. Now, when you first get to the real thing that is moving and has a runway diagonal to the ship's heading....isn't that a little tough at first to land correctly?

    Final Select!!!

Thanks guys. And to anybody out there who's applying or about to apply: you don't have to be the second coming of Christ to get selected. Take me, for example. I consider myself kind of an underdog who got picked. I'm not much of an athlete at all. My eyes aren't 20/20. Did OK, but not great...

    Board Results

I think PUGrad is correct. Ribida and I both got pro rec'd at the same time. He got final select a week or two ago, I just got it today. I don't think final select has anything to do with the next wave of pro recs.

    NFO duties

I think that's the main lesson everybody has learned today. Thanks guys. Sidenote: the Navy is brutal with its slang and technical terms. For somebody like me who isn't in yet, trying to understand these stories is tough.

Should I even apply with these scores?

I submitted my package in July. After I applied, my recruiter showed me a sheet with what the selection board was looking for. As far as the ASTB goes, they said they wanted 6's and a 59 OAR. I don't know if that was a cutoff, or if that was just competitive. Also, that was a different time of...

I've been reading this forum for almost a year now, and I still don't know much about NFOs. Navy.com, google, wikipedia, etc. still don't reveal much about NFOs either. Well...don't feel bad. Ramen is the best bang-for-your-buck food out there. It tastes great, and it's only what? like 15 cents a pack or something like that?

This comes straight from an email that a Lt. at my NRD sent: "The Bachelor Degree Completion Program (BDCP) will pay you over $3,000 per month (depending on where you live) up to 24 months from graduation from college." Eh? I thought everybody said you get like $1800 per month. Any BDCP'ers...

    Beautiful Flying....period

To anybody who has a private pilot's license: you seriously have to have an imbalance in the ailerons the entire time you're flying just to take care of this effect? I went flying twice before I applied to be a pilot, just to see if it was all it's cracked up to be (and it was). I don't...

3.3 Minimum GPA to stay in?

I've already been pro rec'd. Assuming I get final select, I'll be in the BDCP. My recruiter told me today that I have to get a minimum of a 3.3 GPA each of my two remaining semesters in college. How strict is this? Seems a little high. Right now I'm only taking 4 classes, and two of them...

    Old school nintendo

By the way, Rush'n Attack is a really fun game on there. I think it's even more fun than the critically acclaimed Contra. Looking at this thing has made me realize that 99% of old nintendo games are gargage, but there are some hidden gems in there.

    vision requirement for SNA confirmed

Does anybody know where a current link is to NOMI's SNA vision requirements (diopters, refractive errors, etc. and all)? I've searched high and dry and can't find it for the life of me. Sometimes my right eye is useless, which is why I am curious about this.

    My motivational statement

You're a pretty good writer, but you haven't given specifics. Tell them exactly why you're the champ. Tell them about the hardest things you've ever done. Tell them why they need you. You need some stories to prove to them that you can put your money where your mouth is. That was the approach...
