I remember reading that there's about a six-month wait for API and that people were being sent to grad school. I have no firsthand knowledge though, I'm still in school.
MIS=Management Information Systems? If so I don't think it's technical. There's a post from a couple of months ago that lists out the specific degrees that are considered technical. Basically if your degree is heavily concentrated in math and science then you're good. All others are...
ok, call me stupid but what the heck does "imho" mean? I see it a lot on airwarriors and one other forum, and I really have no idea what it means. Sorry I'm not up to speed on the new internet lingo.
cyclo exam - I went to MEPS in Houston back in May. They sent me a few blocks down the street to a civillian doctor who did the exam. MEPS was not set up to do the exam in-house. No one ever said anything about having it done by a military doctor, and they let me in. Things could have...
You'll either get a professional recommendation or a rejection when you first submit your package. If you get the pro-rec then they'll want to see your MEPS report, PRT, and EPSQ. It's kind of like getting called back for a second interview in the civillian world. I don't think it is very...
I had the same problem when I applied for BDCP SNA. I had to wait until applications opened back up (they had been closed for a month or two) before I could send my package up. I ended up getting a pro-rec but while my application was out they closed slots AGAIN before I got a final...
Does supinate mean the same as under pronate? I under pronate and was wondering if you had any suggestions. I've tried New Balance before and the particular pair I had was uncomfortable. I switched to the Nike Shox and they are really comfy, but they look a little flashy for my tastes...
Talk to your recruiter... he (or she) is always your best source of information. As long as you disclose your medical history I would think you're fine - who knows, you might not even need a waiver.
It makes sense about the first post being a little argumentative, but I still agree with Paiste and Dave. The entire airwarriors site is filled with posts that have interesting sounding titles but end up being more like a soap opera. The forum is great and there is a place for everything, but...
Nice fish man. I've got to get up to lake fork before I get out of TX... Everyone says it's so good there. Maybe this spring I'll make the drive and find out for myself.
When you take your ASTB, which is for the Navy and Marine Corps, you will get several scores back. One of these scores is your OAR, which stands for Overall Aptitude Rating (I think). It is not a separate test. It is a number calculated from your performance on the ASTB. The best thing you...
Yes, more on the mindset please. I've got a long way to go before I have to make any decisions (still in college) but I'd like to get a feel for how the different communities are. Any info would be great. Thanks.
Good luck guys... I bet both of you get Supply. I had similar scores and my recruiter assured me that I would have no trouble getting into the Supply Corps. I don't know whether he was right (I went for pilot instead of supply) but your scores sound great to me. Keep the forum posted on your...
GTGRAY - how about that list of approved technical majors? I'm a finance major (previously accounting) and I'd venture to say that both are pretty "technical" as far as the business world is concerned. Especially compared to management or marketing... Anyway, I was just curious. Thanks.
I'm with you guys here... I'm addicted to deer hunting, love bass fishing, and also enjoy bird hunting. I've pretty much written off being able to continue spending much time doing these things once OCS gets here. Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised. We'll have to wait and see.
i haven't been there and have no firsthand knowledge, but i would certainly hope that NFO's are given EQUAL respect as pilots. Both are officers and aviators for the world's greatest Navy. NFO's are definitely NOT second class to me.
I did a Google search... I've got lots of info already. I just figured that there's gotta be at least a couple of people on the forum who know EXACTLY where I can find some up-to-date, detailed information. Especially some of the guys who are out in the fleet... firsthand info would be great...
I have to do a presentation on the JSF for my Naval Science class. Anyone know of some informative websites or books? I'm looking for all the info I can get, but it has to be credible. Thanks in advance. BEN
Go see your recruiter. There's a form you have to fill out before you can make the change. It's like someone else said earlier, the Navy owns you and you must get permission before you change.
I haven't been keeping up much since the topic turned to crap, but I thought I'd ask if anyone noticed that this thread is now one of the "most replied to" topics? Funny how the love triangle thing is more popular than stuff related to the Navy...
Yall should think about making this into a...
Your scores are different for pilot and NFO because they look at different things for each score. Ask your recruiter to show you the printout of your test score- it will show you which sections of the test are counted for each score (OAR, PFAR, ect)and how each section is weighted (not all are...
It took me a couple of months to get done with the recommendation/selection process. I swore in at the end of July and expect a check to cut on the 15th and be here shortly thereafter. At least that's what my recruiter tells me... I hope he's right.
I just recently got into BDCP and my recruiter told me that I would be eligible for MGIB only AFTER OCS. My contribution from my paycheck (up to 1200 total) does not begin until then either. There seems to be some conflicting information here...
Gnorman-
Yes, I have been selected! I have orders to report to OCS on October 2, 2004. It feels soooooo good to have this behind me now.
This reference thing you have going on sounds way off. The only thing I did was fill out where/when I worked for the EPSQ. They NEVER asked for anything...

I had similar scores and I made it in. They look at your ASTB a lot but they look at the other stuff too. Don't get too down on yourself for not getting straight 9's. The spatial apperception part really screwed me up too. Just like you I could ace the ARCO stuff but the real...
Glad to get that pilot perspective from HornetDrvr back a few posts... wish we had some more of that around here. Anyway, my stance is that if the Navy want's to put me in a jet powered fighter I will simply say "thank you" and consider myself one of the luckiest people on the planet. I'm...

Without question the best possible thing you could do for yourself is go see an officer recruiter and ask about OCS. If you're close to an ROTC outfit you should talk to them too. You're probably too late to go to USNA this year so unless you want to wait I'd throw that option...
