    written test

You did better than I did on the OAR (I had a 57)and I got in. I had a PFAR of 6 and a AQR of 7. I don't think they look at the bio scores anymore. Good luck!

    Professionally Recommended But Not Selected?

The professional recommendation is what you get when the selection board says this: "Your application is good. If you send us your PRT, EPSQ, and MEPS report and you pass them all we will let you be in the Navy (or Marines I guess - don't know how their process works). The professional...

    Professionally Recommended But Not Selected?

This didn't happen to me... but my recruiter told me that they need a good reason to give you a pro rec and nonselect. Something that comes up in your medical exam or background check. Also if you fail the PRT.

    Promotions in BDCP

Yes - get a 3.5 gpa for 2 semesters in a row or refer someone to the program. If you refer someone they have to be accepted for you to get the promotion. From my understanding you can be promoted from the standard E-3 to the maximum of E-5. Someone else posted somewhere that you can go up to...

The Tomcat Legacy; 35+ years from Fleet Air Defender to Recce to Precision Strike

I had to go back and edit this post--- After reading the article I'd have to say that the F-14 seems to have the upper hand in some pretty important categories. I wonder what the future holds for such a powerful machine as the Tomcat? Maybe retirement from service isn't such a good idea...

    I got in, woohoo!!!!!!

Hey yall, I finally got the word and everything is official now! I swore in this afternoon for BDCP SNA with a class date of 2 OCTOBER 2004 (if I don't get rolled back). I just wanted everyone to know that they're still selecting - don't give up. I'll post my stuff on the stats and scores...

I did the same thing at MEPS and found both tests to be really simple. Obviously though, I am not colorblind. If you can tell the difference between red and green traffic lights then you should be just fine.

    Technical major?

If you're interested in something technical then go for it. I would not try to get a technical degree just to boost your application though, study something you're interested in. I've made the first cut in the application process for SNA with a degree in Finance. If you're interested in what...

    FY '05 Pilot Slots

There's plenty of info on this forum about BDCP. The short version: get paid a lot to go to school and stay in shape. You're on contract so you have a committment even if you bail out of OCS.

    SQUARED AWAY OCS PACKAGE

I think I saw somewhere that SNA is 1395. I kinda pulled that out of nowhere so I might be way off. It just sounded familiar. feo- If you're going through a recruiter then he/she will know just how to send your package. My recruiter has taken great care of me throughout the whole...

I've been professionally recommended with a 3.3 or so. I'm still waiting on the official selection... If you rock on the ASTB and have a strong package overall I think you stand a good chance. The BEST source for good information will be your recruiter. He/she will know what they are calling...

Anyone stop at Easterwood Field (CLL)?

I don't know why I never thought of this earlier... Yesterday as I watched a T-45 scream down runway 16 and fade away into the sky above Easterwood Field I decided that I'd like to talk to a real-live SNA about a few things. Since you guys are here all the time I thought I'd see if anyone...

    SNA Slots

My recruiter told me that SNA spots are closed for direct accession in fiscal year 2004. However, BDCP spots are still open because most (maybe all) applicants at this point would fall into FY 2005 or beyond. So if you're applying for direct accession and don't mind rolling to FY 2005 then I...

Selected for NFO, wanted SNA...what to do

I'm only posting what I've read elsewhere on the forum, but take it for what it's worth. I have heard (read) that making the transition from SNFO to SNA is much easier if you can do it BEFORE or during OCS. I think the Navy would be unlikely to give you a new designator after they've spent the...

    OAR score rquirements

I agree... 50 is minimally competitive right now for aviation. If your GPA is any indication of your intelligence you will definitely be able hit the 50 mark. I'd think that you are capable of more like 65 or 70. Study the available materials on this site (especially the Marine practice test)...

I have absolutely NO interest in the airlines right now. I figure it'd be smart to keep my options open in case I change my mind later. Going with helos sounds like fun though. I wish there were more helo jobs in the civilian world that pay as well as the fixed wing jobs. Oh well, I've got...

    how to determine flight headings

It's a circle divided up into 360 degrees. Look at a compass (go to WalMart if you don't have one) and everything will make sense. N is 0 degrees E is 90 S is 180 W is 270 Turning right from 90 means you're adding 90+30=120. Left from 020 means you go back 20 degrees to 0 and then 25 more...

    Sad but True

Hey yall, I got an email that's a lot like the first post. It's way long or I'd just post it... It talks a lot about the general state of mind of the two major parties. It's definitely pro-republican. Email me if you want a copy of it. It's really pretty good.

This post is a little bit like the other two about buying cars... Here's the deal: I've been pro rec'd for BDCP and anticipate getting paid soon. The extra money would make it really easy for me to buy a new vehicle if that's what I decide to do with it. I've been seriously considering...

Where to buy study book for ASTB?

    New selection process?

I was told two weeks as well. I was pretty surprised (expected more like 2 months at the earliest) but my office has told me more than once to expect an answer soon. PRT ect comes after professional recommendation/rejection. I'm not sure why the process has changed.
