time alotted to p-cola from ocs

It should be a couple weeks or so, give or take. Your orders will say how much, when you get them. By the way, other than 4 days proceed time or whatever they give you, the time you take between that and "report no earlier than" still counts as leave, so just keep that in mind.

Fallen Angels - Admin Seps for all?

We were told that as of just a couple weeks ago they're only keeping ~15% of DOR's and NPQ's in the military.

Best way to become a navy pilot

For one, make sure you're talking to an Officer Recruiter and not the enlisted ones. That does make a difference. My recommendation is BDCP if this is what you know you want to do. You still get the hands-off college experience as long as you stay out of trouble, and they'll pay for it too.

Seeking advice on that first handgun or next weapon purchase? Ask AW!

I'd suggest you start looking for gun shows, you can usually find some pretty good deals there. Additionally, you'll get to browse through ALL types of firearms and try them on for size. In my opinion, the firearm you buy in the end should satisfy your budget, caliber satisfaction, and...

Poll: U.S. Military Supports McCain 3-1 - Military Times

Older generations have withstood so much worse, with much greater stoicism. You should suck it up and count your blessings to be living in a country which STILL is and STILL will be the greatest in the world for quality of life.

    Very sad - Cooper firearms

It's genius. With gunsmiths lobbying for Obama, he'll be a lot more likely to overlook them during his administration. Think of the big picture. :D

    Insider Scoop on Navy OCS

LEARN HOW TO USE THE DAMN SEARCH FUNCTION!!1 Just kidding. You know, all you really have to know about OCS is that indoc week really sucks. It was kind of a blur though, which helps you forget it at the end. The details of the schedule are inconsequential on hindsight, and do trust us when...

THE VP DEBATE: Thursday Night Fights, Round 1 ... WHO "WON" .. ???

Ahem! Ok, ok, so this turned out completely the opposite, I think Palin had the definitive upper hand on this one. Looks like they learned from the last debate because she was straight to the point, didn't point any fingers, called Biden out with some good zingers, and generally made me feel a...

15 year old, Wanting to become a US Navy pilot.

IMO you are way too young to be thinking such heavy thoughts. Relax, and enjoy your youth while you still have it. Naval commissions carry a lot of responsibility, and you'll have plenty of time to do that later. Right now, just stay out of (serious) trouble, and keep your grades up. You...

THE VP DEBATE: Thursday Night Fights, Round 1 ... WHO "WON" .. ???

Will the moderator really matter that much? I'm sorry friends, but no amount of coaching is going to cut it. She couldn't even handle Katie Couric. This is going to be about damage control. This is going to be a slaughter. EDIT: Turned out this was completely wrong. I am surprised and...

    OCS application with abysmal GPA

I got in with a 2.5 (eng. degree), and a really high ASTB score, and my PRT scores were only good medium. I think you have a good chance, especially with good LOR's.

    Bumped in OCS?

You're family's probably wondering how often the Navy will rope-a-dope you into applying for a pilot slot and then sending you to iraq as a marine. Doesn't work that way.

Looking for a female perspective on OCS

No of course you don't NEED to, but like he said, it behooves you to try. TRY. Just making good-low is going to mean that when your form really counts and DI's are looking for their roll-quota, you're going to be hanging on to the bottom rung of the numbers ladder, with no margin of error...

    PRT Run

Totally. Always push your limits each time you run, and back off a bit and jog a stretch if you can't take it. When we ran with the LT at OCS, it often felt like my lil heart was gonna pop, but by the end I went from 11:40 to 8:56. Word.

    Bought my first gun today

Sweet, I bought my first handgun last Sunday as well. Got a Ruger P89 9mm. I had gone intending to buy a Sig, but this felt so good in my hand, in terms of grip and balance, and the price was much better as well, so here we are. Got it private sale so I didn't have to wait 3 days or...

Failing asthma test between OCS and API

Yep. I went through that whole debacle at OCS when I stupidly mentioned childhood symptoms to the flight doc (learned my lesson). All they had me do was go to a specialist who confirmed that I didn't have any, and I was set. If you already have that, then you're probably good to go.

I'd say...like anything, it has its big advantages and disadvantages, which you should think hard about. Obviously it's a lot of work and sucks sometimes, but on the other hand there are those good days...I got cat-called today by some hot chicks in a benz; nice. Anyway, my point is, think...

CCW on campus...a list of places where it can happen

Israelis are hardcore. I'll say one thing though, they have a sterling reason to carry in their neck of the woods, and I bet they have a lot of respect for their weapons. I guess when you're in constant danger of being under assault like that, you save your energy instead of going on a spree...

Not that I've ever done it or would ever do it of course, but, That stuff's not really a social drug. After one does it, you don't get the feeling like you want to do it again any time soon. There are a lot of youtube vids out there of people trying it, which I think makes up most of its use...

    PRT with Recruiter - Question

Wellllllll the IN-PRT is pass-fail, or so I have been told. Your application PRT is definitely a facet of how good your application looks, so do as well as you can on that. I know for a fact it can't ever hurt to do as well as possible on every PRT, but something is definitely wrong if they...
