    Hot new helicopter/rotorcraft news

Something along the lines of if it barely meets tolerances it goes to the MV-22 line. I think this was in regards to blade tip weights or whatever you hybrid types have

So very happy they went with anybody but Bell. I have yet to have heard a good story coming from interactions with Bell. I know someone who used to be acquisitions at one of their factories and they told me that unofficial company policy regarding common parts between different service aircraft...

Sikorsky S-97 Raider Ground Tests Today

I'm confident unpiloted pax transport is coming in the next 10-15 years. It will come about the time people get comfortable with driver-less cars and start getting uncomfortable with manned cars. I'm also confident that the armed services will be about 30-40 years behind the commercial world so...

    Which Sunglasses?

Maui Jim Stingrays. Ive tried several different types of Oakleys, Costas and other brands. I love my MJ's. Polarization is as good as any other brand and they fit and feel great. Works with a CRT HUD and they have awesome warranty. I shattered a lens once and they did a full replacement even...

    Which watch?

Would also like to know for the skid side of the house. Does it have to do with the fact that the "station" is moving and spinning and can't be baselined to magnetic north (kind of like the spinning tacan for the boat)?

    Miramar Shenanigans - Where's Wolfy?

I'm surprised this hasn't been on here yet. I can't take any credit I just happened to get a copy of the email. This started at the Miramar Air Show over a month ago and from what I've heard this has been going around the pentagon and all over the world. What started as a joke went viral after...

Stupid Questions about Naval Aviation (Part 3)

I just wish the Marines would let their pilots wear the same FROG gear that the grunts wear when it's hot out. Nomex isn't great in hot weather.

USN Solving the HT dilemma - extend life of TH-57 - move 30% of syllabus to sims

I like the Augusta (or whatever they're calling it these days) -119. It's a clean looking bird from a company that breaks tradition from the Bell/Sikorsky normalcy. They might actually hold true to their word and have some shred of good guy decency with respect to not screwing the customer...

    Magic Carpet

Aren't computers awesome? I heard the X-47 kept hitting the deck and the wires in the exact same spot and they had to program in random error in order to spread out the fatigue on the wires and deck. CH-53K ground tests

but without being able to fit in a c-17 how would you get it to theatre... put it on a boat (kinda in the wrong service for that). Unless you seriously want to do an ocean crossing in a helicopter (sickens me to my core), I don't see the army taking that option. #TailrotorMafia. All things...

    CH-53K ground tests

I think the power loss associated with a tandem rotor gets you into a diminishing returns scenario when you drive the weight up that high (but im no aerospace engineer) . I think the new tech and sizing of the CH-53K will far outpace anything a 47F could do. This is the right move rather than...

If I were to go back as a Company Officer I would definitely have a lot more leniency towards the varsity athletes after seeing how awesome some of the "shitbags" are doing now. In fact I've been disappointed more by those who were "model" midshipmen and got to the fleet and just couldn't be...
