For the other side of the country, Southern Tier Brewery from NY has been doing good things lately. Tried two of their Imperial Stouts last week in Pensacola - the Creme Brulee and the Jahva, both very nice.

Grew up 15 minutes from there and know most of the crew...great stuff...glad to see them getting love outside the region.

I am a huge fan Blue Mountain Brewery's "Full Nelson" IPA. The brewery is a pretty sweet spot tucked up in the Blue Ridge if any guys in D.C. or Norfolk are looking for a good excuse to drive out there.

Firestone Walker made in Paso Robles Ca. Was stationed at Vandenberg AFB from 06-09 and lived about 20 minutes from the brewery. Taproom serves great food too! Their double jack imperial IPA is top notch.

Resurrecting this thread for awesome' sake.

Hop Valley is the dandy of Oregon right now and I hope many of you can find the opportunity to try some of their beers. Started by an OSU graduate a few years ago, Hop Valley has some really exceptional beers. Their brewery is based in Eugene/Springfield, OR.

Besides serving some heavy, fried, and sexually satisfying excellent food that will make you shit yourself, Hop Valley puts out some absolutely outstanding brews. Their must tries are the "Double-D Blonde," "Vanilla Porter," and my current favorite: the Alpha Centauri Binary IPA. Yeah, the name of the last one is like a pimple faced kid playing dungeons and dragons in his mom's basement, but damn it, it's one of the best beers I've ever had. I'll call them to find out if their brews can be ordered online and I'll post a link if they can. Give these guys a look-see because they are putting out a hell of a product.

Full disclosure: I am not being compensated in any way, shape, or form by Hop Valley - but I am an alcoholic enthusiast

Cool, never had it or heard of it. Funny since I'm an OSU grad, and grew up in Eugene, though there is never a shortage of new things when I come home to visit. I will have to try it when I get home for my sister's wedding next month. My personal favorites are basically anything from Rogue, Stone (I miss their brewery being a 15 min drive from my house), and more recently have enjoyed Ninkasi when I'm back in the PNW (have never seen it anywhere else).

Ballast Point anyone?
They were conveniently located right down the street from the USD campus and were always eager to dispense tastes. Plus, the adjacent brewing supply store was always well stocked. :)

That's another reason why I like them is their brew store.

Their main brewery is about a mile away from MCAS Miramar. 21+ of their beers on tap and within reasonable prices. There's also growlers available if you need to stock up on good beer for a while.

Speaking of Growlers. The Md Law changed this month to allow any bar to fill any Growler, even if they don't sell their own Growlers. Handy.

There's a new brewery in Norfolk that has some pretty good brews, and they've been showing up in the local Harris Teeter and Food Lion. I'm partial to their Great Dismal Black IPA.

The guy started as a homebrewer, and shops at the same homebrew store in Norfolk that I do.

Speaking of good brews in the Hampton Roads area, I rather like this one:

On another note, I was excited to see in the grocery store the other day that fall beers are starting to arrive. This one from Salt Lake City is my all-time favorite:
