Yes......at Berkeley.......He claimed it was to get the ladies, but Brett could tell you more if he ever checks back in.

So this guy was into girls with hairy pits that listened to Tori Amos/Ani DiFranco and people that didn't wear deodorant? He sounds fascinating.:D

Well, we can talk about exception to the rule all day long but I for one don't make decisions based on exception. Its great that there a those who manage to find work using their "useless" majors but the vast majority of those who major in something like history or women's studies most likely end up having to get a masters or a Phd to really make something of it and even then, it would be difficult. Compare this to a student who studies mechanical engineering and i'm sure that 90% of the time, that student ended up with a job that started off around at least 50-60K/year right out of college. Surely you can't tell me that it is easier to find a well paying job with a degree in history than it is with a degree in something like mechanical engineering. By the way, I really hope this DH was a female because a guy majoring in womens studies would make me stop and think...

All this from your vast pool of experience? If I wanted to work in the History field then I would probably have to get a grad degree, unless I wanted to teach high school, but I sure did not need one in the Navy or in real life.

No. My dream man consists of a poor sap who'll be paying me forty percent of his pay after only a few years of marriage!

I joke. :D

What does experience have to do with knowing that there are a lot more engineerings jobs than there are jobs for historians?

Are there really that many engineering jobs for people who only have a B.S.? And one that is 7+ years old (by the time you fly and get out)?

Simple answer to the first part of your question is, yes. For the second part, if you are comparing the engineering degree to say bible study then the answer is still yes. I'm not making all this up...you have the internet at your fingertips...for those who wish to verify.

So what the hell you plan on doing with a Bible Studies major?

Bible Salesman?
Because I can't think of anything more important in my life to learn more about.

Right now my career plans include 20 years (hopefuly) in the USMC. At some point during that time I plan on getting a masters or a JD and working in that field.

Does your university offer Theology? Or, perhaps, Philosophy?
