So we have Navy F-16's in the sky once again?

there were 2 or 3 out on the ramp at Lemoore during the beginning of August this year.....the NSAWC det OIC pretty much nixed the idea of having any of us mids go fly in one unfortunately :(

I think they had a B model (dual seat) and 1 or 2 A models there

As of right now, yes. The only indication that we would lose them was that one article that mentioned they might be delivered to Pakistan, and I am not sure of the veracity of it.

Another interesting note, the Navy has some 'new' F-5's courtesy of the Swiss Air Force. They kept their F-5's in great shape and we got them for a great deal. Saw a few on the ramp at St Augustine Airport when we took a Prowler down to PDM. It was a hell of a lot smaller than a Prowler, no wonder they jsust disappeared when they went nose on to us during BFMC....:D

I heard its more fun w/ a middie in the back :icon_tong
Whatever you meant notwithstanding ... it IS more "fun" with a Middie in the back --- especially after the Indoc flights when the bets are collected on whether or not they puke and puke and puke their guts out ....

Used to crack me up taxiing back in, giving thumbs up or down, and watching the cash change hands amongst the plane captains .... :)

Living the dream
For what it's worth (to all of you middies), I never tried to make mine puke. In fact, I tried to make sure that they had a good time and thought about puking (which is why most guys that puke do it) as little as possible.

The only guy I ever intentionally tried to make puke was my former flight surgeon. I had him in the back seat for a threat reaction sortie and turned the heat all the way up. When he started complaining I started the SAM weave. The guy was a total douchbag. Somehow we were never scheduled together again.......pity.

I'd imagine a "I weep for the future of Naval Aviation" round is inbound.....

HH/UH-1N Iroquois helicopter

How did that make your list?

I understand the HH-1N isn't exactly the most common bird out there (I was an HH-1N Plane Captain btw), but the UH-1N???

Come on, Hueys are pretty much symbolic of the Vietnam War and they are still incredibly common. I mean the whole H-1 community is in the midst of a couple billion dollar upgrade, so it isn't exactly like it is a dead/dying airframe...

WELL DONE !!! .... You're certainly an Officer we can all be proud of, aren't you ?? And here we go again ... now let's see .... where did I say I "tried" to make Middies puke ??? Please note the sarcasm inherent in my previous post and note the "" marks around the word "fun"??? Or did my slight attempt at a bit of esoteric "humor" (there's those "" marks again) escape you ???

News flash for the Marine:
I'm not as stupid as you believe me to be .... and in what seems to be an increasingly frequent tendency with you (?) ... you imagine wrong.

No one "tried" to make 'em puke, at least no one that I'm aware of .... but here's another news flash for you:
many did puke their guts out ... and many will in the future.

And the plane captains made and took bets on it. If anyone "enjoyed it" ... it was them.
:)

Weep over that one, Gyrene ....

this was my experience this last summer as well.......I never flew w/ anyone who didn't seem concerned about making sure I was doing ok in the back. I think all the laughs and the "holy $h** that was bad@**"-type comments reassured my pilots when things got dynamic. But then again, a *small* handful of guys (and girls) puked their brains out in spite of all the "help" they got.....I chalked it up more as an anxiety thing than anything else...dunno what anyone who has real experience thinks though

I've never thought you were stupid. I just figured you were mean.
