But if I wanted to burn the American flag, and shout down with the US... thats still encouraged right?

Just make sure you dont use gasoline. That comes from oil, and oil is the source of all evil in the US.

No but burning it in a joyess dance in the streets has the inverse property. Think about it... to spite the oil companies/SUV makers/evil George W. Bush, Green 'Peace' or some other whack job outfit burned a bunch of Hummers at dealerships.

Wait... what??? I swear I feel like I dont really live in the United States out here.

I think perhaps you guys are confused on the Colt I'm talking about.

The Colt M4 LE 6920 is as close as you will get to the real thing and is an excellent weapon. They have only increased in price since the AWB sunset and when we have a Democrat President (again) and the AWB is re-introduced, these Military/LEO marked Colts will go through the roof in value as they will be "grandfathered" in ....

These are built by Colt Defense Industries --- not Colt Firearms Division (a.k.a. the civilian side). Colt Defense builds LEO, export, and military. Colt Firearms builds civilian.

Nothing runs like a Colt. Except an Escalade. :)

From an investment standpoint and cool factor, as I said earlier, the M-4 LEO marked Colts are awesome. I know a guy that bought 4 of them. They are all safe queens, which is honestly the only reason I would buy one. I don't recall if they have the large pins though. That basically fvcks you over if you want to play around with uppers, of course knowing you you could probably just pick up an AR-15 in every variation. The Marine Corps current contract has their M-16A4's built by FN. West coast SEAL teams are buying Barrett and HK AR's. As far as the piston upper AR's, from what I've heard they are "the next big thing." Look for Spec War to be using them for their durability in the dessert environment and for the lack of blowback gases with sound suppressor use.

I guess the big question is is it going to be a shooter? If I were buying a shooter I wouldn't buy a Colt... ever. If I wanted a safe queen that had cool markings on it to be kept completely stock, then yea I might go for a Colt. All that being said, you definitely know what you are doing and your opinion on firearms should weigh as strongly as anyone. Chances are you aren't going to be unhappy no matter what you get.

You are absolutely correct Xmid - the NSW, and SOC guys are all buying mechanical piston upper's with monolic forends a la HK. The Specops guys have outgrown their SOPMOD M-4's - The M-4 / AR gas system was never intended to go without extended periods without cleaning and lubrication - nor operated as heavily on sustained full auto. HK HAS SOLVED THIS and NSW/SOCOM are all over this. This is "the next big thing".

Gas operated AR's days are numbered.

I notice a lot of Corpmen and Marines in general carrying M4A1's though - as a side note I thought I woulfd mention this because I thought The USMC was strictly M16Ax long rifle. The images in theatre on www.navy.mil would seem to negate this...

A4s for what it's worth... I'd recommend RRA 1st, Colt second but ONLY for the 6920 none of their others, third DPMS... I own a DPMS Panther BB I shoot in High Power competition, and I'm currently building an M4 based on RRA parts for 3 gun competition, I "should" have it finished in about three weeks, so will post pics at that time. Stay away from Bushies... they are overpriced pieces of crap. I would be surprized to see a 6920 under $2000- Unless you are doing an LE buy. I'm "assuming" like me you shoot everything in the safe, so enjoy it!:D

But of course ... MOMMA didn't raise no fool.

I just got (past tense) a mint, NIB, COLT 6920. I will probably not shoot it ... it's gonna be a "safe queen" .... I have "others" to shoot ... just wanted the input of interested and knowledgeable "gun guys"....

Thanks, AW "gun guys" ... :)

A4s - Why go with a traditional Colt AR, with all the AR probelms of direct gas operation?

Yeah, I know in NYC it's not such a good idea, but is NY state just as bad? Maybe I need to get a new girlfriend? (She only wants to live in NYC or Miami) :)
My life will be so unfulfilled...
