Does anyone remember on the test if when your doing the Dichotic Listening is it ODD (Clutch on the throttle) and EVEN (pull trigger on the right) ?
Additionally, the technique of tilting your head to the targeted ear seemed to help for me on the pure listening portion. Once it is incorporated with stick and throttle tracking I just kept my head straight up because tilting made it more difficult to track.

Fresh off the ASTB. I got nervous and a little click-happy on the UAV, the throttle would only go up at 100%. Thought I was eating it on the OAR, knew I was eating it on the ASTB. My math was like 9 questions, reading took forever and mechanical was pretty straightforward.

Scored a 61 6/5/6

Not sure if I should retake to try for Immediate Select or let it ride, recruiter thinks off to July board with me. What do you all think?

First time taking the ASTB, scored 35 4/7/4, was surprised by my low FOFAR score and AQR. Math portion must’ve dumped on me. Working on my commercial pilots license, but feel confident I can really up these scores now that I know the test.

If you want to go SNA you need to retake.

I’m hoping to go SNFO with Supply Corps as a close second choice. It looks like I may meet the I-SEL for SC actually, depending on whether the PA means you need a graduate degree or if you only need a graduate degree to supplant the math requirement.

But as an ex O recruiter, sir, would you send this NFO hopeful to board with the 6 AQR and 6 FOFAR or would you have me re-take?

If you don't have the math requirement then a graduate degree will negate the math requirement, but for the immediate selection you must meet the math requirement.

If going for SNFO you could give it a shot and see what happens.

Today, I took the ASTB, and I'm feeling quite disappointed with my results. During the emergency procedure section, I found myself somewhat confused. My understanding of the procedures was as follows:

E-Knob: Fuel too low

I-Knob: Power too low

Clutch: Reset button



However, I became uncertain when it seemed necessary to repeat the same procedure—turning the E-knob, followed by the I-knob, and pressing the clutch button—while tracking the planes in my crosshairs. Despite my efforts, the red indicator persisted on the screen without disappearing. Can anyone verify if my approach was correct? I had believed I was executing the procedure accurately until encountering this issue. Moreover, it's evident that I need to significantly improve my OAR score. I've utilized various study resources, including the ASTB Prep App, ASTB App, Barons study guide, and educational content from the Organic Chemistry Tutor and Grammarhero on YouTube. Despite diligently using these materials, my OAR score remains unsatisfactory. For future test-takers, I highly recommend avoiding spending too much time on individual questions, as it can substantially impact your overall score.

In other words, try to complete every question that is required of you.

Remember the test is adaptive, the test will give you harder questions to determine your highest level of knowledge and then move you on to the next area. It is more important to answer the questions correctly than to try to answer all of them.

That’s exactly what I was thinking. I’d answer a few easy questions then they’d throw some pretty difficult math questions my way that took some time to do which wasted a lot of my time. I’m pretty good at math so I was surprised my AQR score was low. Next time I take the test, no matter I’m going to make sure, no matter how difficult the question is, to answer the question within a minute and a half even if I don’t quite know the answer. Because the way I think about is, even if I do get it wrong, they’ll give me an easier question after that.
