OCS 03Nov2023 SNA/SNFO Board

nope, several on this site have talked about it, the last board had quite a few showed into classes that were coming up fast, more than likely that was due to openings that they could fill that weren't available earlier, and it is easier to put a person without an OCS date than to ask people if they would like to move up as those people have already made plans, and you don't have to contact a variety of people to see if the candidate can go earlier.
 
I have looked through a bunch to try and get an idea, and I have come up with 20~ business days. I am hopeful for before Christmas, but with the off days between then and New Year's I am pretty sure we will be in early Jan.. Obviously, all my own misguided guesses. Maybe the OCS class in mid-January will force them to finish the board early to try and ship folks out.
 
When you all went to meps and did the depth perception test, were you able to get every single circle question right? I was able to easily distinguish which ones popped out the most until the last 2, where it seems like there wasn’t really a right option for either of the last 2 circle questions as none stood out to me. Did anyone experience something similar as well? Trying to figure out if this might disqualify me or not.

I missed like the last 5 and passed, you're good. If you were a no-go they probably would have told you there.

I was told I passed at MEPS. Got a phone call from my recruiter two weeks later that I failed per aviation standards. Went to a civilian follow-up the next day per his instructions and passed. N3M declined it because she didn’t use a test they preferred. I found out Monday before the deadline so now I’m submitted for NFO. It’s been quite the month.

Do you know what part of the physical you failed / didn’t meet aviation standard?

You do not have to see all the circles. If I am not mistaken you have to pass lines A-D and lines E-G are just bonus points. I may be off by a letter or two but its for sure not a 100% pass fail. They will not let you submit as SNA if you did not pass the depth perception test at MEPS.

This can also happen to you.

I once saw a friend who had zero depth perception crash and RC plane into a tree. It was very obvious to me that the RC plane was going to crash but it was all 2D to him. I then understood why they do not let people without DP become pilots. Its funny when its an RC plane but not when it is an F35
 
Totally get it, but it was super frustrating to have passed it and now I can’t go for SNA this cycle. Feel like he could have just sent me back to MEPS for reevaluation three weeks ago.
Gonna look into NFO to pilot transition program…

Wait so did you they not let you go for SNA due to depth perception? Or was it for some other reason

Depth perception measured in arc speed, can’t be “less” than 40 (lower number is better for arc speed) and vision must be correctable to 20/20
