Finally got in for MEPS today and got that “medically qualified” box checked in my paperwork so thank God that’s finally done. Took me 5 solid months to get seen and I almost got turned away at the door because the dates were wrong on my covid screening form. Threw up a Hail Mary call to my OR on the off chance he was up at 4:45 am and he picked up, fixed the paperwork and sent it to them lol. So for anyone early in the process, go to meps as soon as your OR will set it up for you. You can’t imagine the number of hang ups that can keep you waiting.

That box they check at MEPS doesn't mean anything, it is NRC medical that makes the decision, MEPS just makes sure you meet basic enlistment standards for the US military, the USN has set standards for officers, now in most cases if MEPS has no issue then NRC medical will probably be fine, but it can and has happened that people clear MEPS but not NRC medical.

I guess my problem is they had me playing tag for half a year just to go in and even get looked at at MEPS. My understanding was you had to at least go in to meps before NRC looks at you. If there was a way to circumvent going to meps, I would’ve loved to have known back in December when I missed the board because meps wanted more paper work lol

Do you guys know when the NRC medical takes place? Is that the one that happens during OCS?

The MEPS documents are uploaded and sent to NRC medical shortly after a person goes to MEPS they then will give a PQ letter in a few weeks so you can be seen at the board.

Also, make sure your OR has all of your MEPS paperwork. When I cleared MEPS and was waiting for NRC medical, my OR didn't tell me he was waiting to receive the paperwork to send to NRC. I find this out 2 months later, send my OR the copy I was given at MEPS, and I got cleared by NRC within 2 weeks. I missed the January board because of this.

I wonder how accurate this site is. Says next board is in August with a June due date for pilot/NFO.

Side note: recruiter texted today to say waiver approved that I needed. Tis good news

On the excel sheet linked in that webpage they have listed the 24 May board, with a due date of 09 April...perhaps they just forgot to include it on the webpage?

Yep, very interesting that it is included in their official spreadsheet but not on their featured bulletin. I’d say if your OR will submit for you, do it. Worst that can happen is you get bumped to August.

I spoke to my recruiter yesterday and she told me that May's board will most likely be for fleet applicants only...meaning that a specific recruiting district, in this case NRD San Diego, would probably find it pointless to display for their civilian applicants to see....my two cents
I’m wondering to what degree that rumor is an actual instruction from NRC vs discretionary decision making by various independent NRD’s. It seems like a lot of folks have gotten that same word from their OR’s so it must carry some weight, but at the same time, so many of us have OR’s that are aware that there is a board in May, haven’t ever heard about the rumor and will be submitting our packages for the May board regardless.

I mean, she didn't say it was set in stone, my package's submitted already since December for whichever board convenes next....like, the possibility, however slim, still exists I guess. Moreover, we have already seen how NRDs vastly differ from one another, even though there was a board in January, there were recruiters that flat out decided to tell their applicants that they couldn't apply, so it seems to be to the discretion of smaller commands. I cannot leave my current job till September anyways, so for now I'm good to wait for the August board, and decided to stop checking this site so much, I feel like with all the rumors, plus the occasional troll (who can go straight to hell) making shit up, it just contributes to people's general anxiety....ask for help around here, but as soon as your package's in, I'd almost advice to forget about it in the meantime and focus on other things.
