Some come hear initially to fly jets, and then realize that there is a lot more to becoming an officer than wanting to fly F-14’s knowing nothing more than that is what Tom Cruz flew, and obviously what the chicks want.

hmmmmm....sounds like someone in our API class

Well, if they could create a movie that morphs Maverick’s looks with Sergeant Elias’s personality, then you would be right on the money...be careful, if I don’t make jet grades I could end up competing for your 53 slot.

I would wear the title FAG proudly (F__king Air Guy) that is...according to the ground guys.

Zuggerrat – gay is used as a term of endearment between the Marines and the Navy. Don’t be offended by simple ball busting, just bite back with a little wit and confidence, and soon enough somebody from the Army will walk by at which point both the seagoing services join teams, much like the fighting brothers against the kid that just moved in up the street...and so this forum continues with a spear in the back from my own classmate.

Oops, I think I misinterpreted that, sorry beetle. I thought you were putting a spear to my back, but now that I think about it, a few of the fellow classmates have that self-serving, climb on your back to get into an F-18 cockpit type of attitude. Yes, Marines have fags (according to my arrogant/intolerable definition) as well.

Ok, this is where I turn from the sarcasm to education about the sarcasm. Gay is part of the lingo, think of it as replacing the word stupid with gay. One of the Staff Platoon Commanders for TBS told his Lt’s “don’t be gay” as his introduction. Essentially he was saying don’t run around like a freaking idiot. You will also hear it phrased as “yeah, the skipper has us doing this…which is really gay.”
There is a lot of dark sarcasm that goes on in the military, if you show any insecurity it will be exploited…at times it is almost like going back to grade school (prepare to have thick skin). I enjoy the wars that go back and forth, and trust me, there will be a time when you see the Marine coming into the room that spent way too much time shining his belt buckle and ironing his uniform, and your first thought is going to be “great, hear comes another Marine….”
But when it comes down to it, I have respect for anyone that would make the sacrifices it takes to become part of an organization that protects the U.S. constitution.

Beetle – it just took me a while to process the info. I don’t have many empty brain cells after today

There is this little kid standing between a Marine and a Sailor in the head all taking a piss. The little kid looks at the Marine and says "Gee sir, are you really a Marine?" The Marine pumps out his chest and says "I sure am!". Being a nice guy, the Marine takes his cover off and places it on the kid's head. Next the kid looks at the Sailor and says "Gee sir, are you really a Sailor?" The Sailor looks down at the kid and says "yeah...want to suck my dick?" The kid answers "I'm not really a Marine, I'm just wearing this hat."

Who are YOU to be telling others "not to be gay", with a screenname BigWorm!!!.

I think you are mad that the Corps doesnt have the Tomcats. And you most likely want to be a Jet Jock. So how about YOU "dont be gay" by making comments about other peoples interest and goals in Naval Aviation.

Worry about yourself at API. Do the right thing and support the grunts in the Corps by flying lifts and helos. Be a good little green machine and escort them safely. And let us (The US Navy) worry about over the Horizons Targets.

Respectfully,

Too be honest, I understand where you are coming from with your post about topgun wannabes, because even I see it a lot. But the original post didnt really strike me as a wannabe topic. It seemed like a pretty legitimate question. I was kind of curious about any info myself, as I am curious about the P-3's status.

But anyway, this topic is already off track. Good luck, and I hope you get jets. Maybe that way you will be able to afford that nice bike you have been wanting
