If you want to "follow" their posts, select that option. Once you do, then you are "following" them. Some Forums use term "watch" as in watching threads and you can then can alerts when something is posted or in case of "following" a user, you are alerted when they post.

Thanks. ( I guess.:)) I still can't figure it out... I did nothing to my profile yet my friends are now split into those groups. How'd that happen?

Thanks HJ,

Steve

Steve, the software when importing everything over utilizes the vbulletin buddy lists to populate who you "follow". Anything since then, you will get an Alert update to inform you of someone that is "following" your posts. I couldn't find any direct correlation on how it did the "math" on the import, additionally, alot of accounts got merged when people had more than one account with the same email (that was automatic) and may be another reason why the list looks different to you.

Some Xenforo basics:

WATCH/UNWATCH THREAD: Selectable on each thread top right, toggle. Or when posting you can check the box to watch the thread. Allows you to be notified and conveniently pull up a list of threads you are watching (FORUMS >> WATCHED THREADS) selectable at the top of the navigation bar.

ALERTS: Provides a means of updating you when:
- Someone replies to a post you made (when they quote you)
- Someone posts in a thread you are WATCHING

FOLLOW: You can choose to follow someone, selectable by choosing the option on their profile page. In your NEWS FEED (click on your username, drop down box, select YOUR NEWS FEED), provides you list of profile updates, likes, status changes and posts by the individuals you follow.

FOLLOWERS: On your profile page, the people that have chosen to add you to their news feed.

How to view content on the website:
  • What's New? (FORUM >> WHAT'S NEW) Show you a list of new posts/threads since you last visited.
  • All Recent Messages (NEW THREADS PAGE >> Top right select ALL RECENT MESSAGES) Show you a total list of all recent posts/threads, even if you viewed on already.
  • Your News Feed (click on your username, drop down box, select YOUR NEWS FEED), provides you list of profile updates, likes, status changes and posts by the individuals you follow.
  • Alerts (click on your username, drop down box, select YOUR ALERTS... or ... the Alert tab at the top right will show a red # above when you have new alerts) provides you with info on people replying to posts you have made, updates to threads you are watching, etc.
  • Recent Activity (MEMBERS >> RECENT ACTIVITY) Forum wide information on what has been updated recently (profiles, posts, likes, etc)
  • Your Content (click on your username, drop down box, select YOUR CONTENT), provides you a list of all the posts and updates you have done on the website
  • Watched Threads (click on your username, drop down box, select WATCHED THREADS), provides a list of all the threads you are watching.
A brief list, but hope that helps some of you understand the changes.

Has the tapatalk function been updated? My Evo still won't load it.
I didn't have a chance to get to this over the weekend, hopefully I will get Tapatalk installed next weekend.

You mean to tell me the day job is going to take priority?

Which one is more likely to provide you a solid revenue stream for the rest of your life?

Actually, that's a darn good question to figure out.

I am having problems uploading a new avatar.. I select a file within limits (200 x 171) and nothing happens. I cannot select "OK", only cancel. The page has a javascript error in the lower left. I saw a post from last year about folder permissions and uploading. Could this problem be back due to the forum upgrade?

See javascript errors below:

Will look into it tonight, right now I am not having any problems uploading an avatar. Have you tried from a different computer?

Website update:

- Server mysql issue solved by Machine (thanks!)
- XENFORO software upgraded to 1.04.
- Tapatalk support/access added (iphone full support, latest info shows that android does not have 100% support of all forum features, I don't have an android phone, so I honestly don't know)
